Job Title: Pediatric Outpatient Nurse (Triage, Immunization, Phlebotomy & Stabilization Unit)

Location: Pediatric Outpatient Department

Position Summary:
The Pediatric Outpatient Nurse is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to children aged 0 to 6 years in an outpatient setting. This role requires advanced skills in triage, pediatric immunizations, phlebotomy, and the stabilization of acutely ill children prior to referral.

The nurse will ensure safe, compassionate, and efficient care for young patients and their families, supporting the hospital’s mission to provide high-quality, efficient and patient-centered outpatient pediatric services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct triage assessments to prioritize care based on clinical urgency and presenting symptoms.
• Administer routine and catch-up immunizations according to national pediatric schedules, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures with a focus on minimizing discomfort and ensuring safety for infants and young children.
• Provide initial stabilization for children with acute medical needs, including airway management, fluid resuscitation, and monitoring, prior to referral to higher-level care.
• Educate parents and caregivers on immunization schedules, post-vaccination care, and general child health topics.
• Collaborate with pediatricians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and facilitate smooth referrals.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical records, adhering to clinical protocols and infection control standards.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current licensure.
• Minimum 3 years of pediatric nursing experience, including triage, outpatient care, and stabilization of acutely ill children.
• Demonstrated proficiency in pediatric immunizations and phlebotomy.
• Experience working in a stabilization unit or similar acute care setting is highly desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with children and families.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred:

• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent.
• Experience in a pediatric outpatient or ambulatory care setting
• Basic Computer skills
