Job Description

Position Summary

The Physician Assistant will provide comprehensive pediatric care for children aged 0–6 years. The role involves screening for common childhood diseases, making clinical diagnoses, ordering appropriate laboratory investigations, and initiating treatment plans under the supervision of the Medical Director.

The PA will play a vital role in ensuring early detection, effective management, and prevention of childhood illnesses.

Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct routine health screenings and physical examinations for children aged 0–6.
    • Identify signs and symptoms of common childhood diseases (e.g., Malaria, respiratory infections, diarrheal diseases, nutritional deficiencies, skin conditions).
    • Monitor growth and developmental milestones.
    • Diagnose and treat illnesses, injuries, and pediatric conditions
    • Develop and implement treatment plans
    • Prescribe medications and therapies
    • Perform routine pediatric procedures like vaccinations and suturing
    • Monitor and record patient progress
    • Educate patients and their families about health conditions and preventive care
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
    • Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care
    • Conduct follow-up visit to monitor patient recovery
    • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
    • Participate in pediatric research studies

 

Qualifications

  • Valid certification/licensure from the National Physician Assistant Board of Liberia (NPAB)
  • Three (3) plus years of experience in pediatric care
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Strong knowledge of common diseases, immunization protocols, and growth/developmental assessment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with children and families.
  • Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care
  • Knowledge of pediatric growth and development.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Strong clinical skills in pediatric care
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a healthcare team
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
