ELILI Social Microfinance is seeking 2 Agro Field officer (Liberian Nationals preferred, Female applications encouraged)

Duty station: Zorzor

PRESENTATION

To improve food security and climate resilience in landlocked areas of Liberia, Entrepreneurs du Monde is opening a social microfinance institution ELILI Social Microfinance using the developed and deployed methodology in 8 countries, covering 152,592 people, 87% of them women. The methodology of EdM involves offering loans to the beneficiaries without asking for any collaterals, guarantor or joint liability among the group. ELILI will offer 4 interlinked services: training, savings, loans and agricultural advice.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The FO have a triple role:

– S/He is facilitator and trainer in ELILI groups. S/He contributes to a good group cohesion and dynamic. S/He is responsible for facilitating discussions, sharing of experience within the group as well as training partners on various topics.

– S/He is responsible for financial operations like a traditional loan officer: loan management (application and collection), setting up loan files, monitoring loans and delinquency management.

– S/He is agro-advisor for all ELILI partner who have an agricultural activity. During their visit for the LAF, the PIF or a loan monitoring, S/he does a farm visit in order to advise the partner on his/her farm management. S/he has to help ELILI partners to use agro ecological techniques in order to be more climate resilient.

All these roles are both equally important. The FO are mainly in the field with the partners.

TASKS

To ensure this roles, under the responsibility of the branch manager, the FO will:

1. Setting up, monitoring, training and leading ELILI groups

– Prospecting and promoting ELILI services among the population of the area and partner associations;

– Establishing groups of beneficiaries;

– Organizing and facilitating group meetings within the communities, according to ELILI’s methodology. The Field Officer promotes the integration of all group members and encourages a good group cohesion and solidarity among the members;

– Facilitating training of beneficiaries on the methodology of ELILI and informing beneficiaries about the financial services;

– Facilitating economic and social awareness trainings during group meetings;

– Individually following-up beneficiaries’ income-generating activity with regular visits to their places of activity.

2. Managing loan and saving beneficiaries

– Managing operations with beneficiaries during group meetings and keeping the group register (recording and managing financial transactions);

– Preparing individual loan applications during an interview with the beneficiary at his/her business place;

– Managing cash collection’s deposits at the bank;

– Supporting for the administrative and computer monitoring of individual accounts, loan applications, as well as loan disbursements and repayments;

– Managing difficult situations encountered by beneficiaries and/or late repayment by seeking appropriate solutions;

– Participating and submitting beneficiaries’ loan applications to the Credit Committee on a weekly basis.

3. Ensuring agro counselling

– Visit the ELILI partners farm in order to make a diagnosis and to give advice on farm management

– Promote the agro ecological techniques

4. Other responsibilities

– Reporting any useful information to the direct supervisor;

– Taking part in the weekly meetings and trainings at the branch office or at the Head;

– Performing all other tasks assigned to him/her by his/her direct supervisor

PROFILE:

Priority will be given to Nationals. Female applications encouraged.

Education: Degree in general agriculture

Language: Fluent/Proficient in English, Kolokwa, and Lorma (other local languages are a plus).

Professional experience: At least one year’s experience working with rural communities.

Prerequisites:

– Previous experience in agriculture development or in rural business

– Animation skills and experience

– Good knowledge of the management of farming activities

– Motorcycle driving license mandatory

– Rigour and organisational skills

– Taste for field activities and empowering vulnerable people

– Good interpersonal and listening skills

– Strong social values

– High level of integrity

CONDITIONS:

– Post based in Gbarnga or in Zorzor. Precise in you cover letter if you are applying for the 2 locations, or just Gbarnga or just Zorzor.

– Start date: ASAP.

– Salary: basic salary 550 USD and a maximum of 137.50 USD incentives depending on the employee performance

– Medical assurance for the employee, a partner and 2 dependents

– Interviews and tests will be organised in Gbarnga. Travel expenses related to recruitment are not covered by Entrepreneurs du Monde.
