Background:
The Wild Chimpanzee Foundation (WCF) is an international NGO working in three West African
countries: Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea and Liberia. WCF has been in operation since 2000 for the
conservation of chimpanzees and other biodiversity in West Africa and opened its office in Liberia
in 2013. WCF is working closely with the Forestry Development Authority and other local
partners. WCF’s main target area in Liberia is the Southeast, in particular the Grebo-Krahn and
Sapo National Parks and Krahn-Bassa Proposed Protected Area, located in Grand Gedeh, River
Gee, Sinoe and Rivercess Counties. WCF’s main office in the Southeast is located in Zwedru,
Grand Gedeh County. Current major donors for WCF are the European Union, the Critical
Ecosystem Partnership Fund, the Great Ape Conservation Fund of the USFWS and other smaller
donors.
WCF’s long-term mission focuses on enhancing the survival of the remaining wild chimpanzee
populations and their habitat, and covers conservation programs that include biomonitoring, law
enforcement, environmental education, research, land-use planning, alternative livelihood schemes,
ecotourism and capacity building. Emphasis is placed on using an evidence-based approach to the
program and supporting transboundary collaboration between stakeholders in Côte d’Ivoire and
Liberia.
Job Description:
We are seeking an honest and committed Administrative Assistant to support the WCF team in
our Zwedru Field Office. The Administrative Assistant will be required to work closely with the
Senior Administration, HR and Finance Assistant and the administrative management and will lead
on or assist with administrative procedures linked to the vehicle and motorbike fleet, the office
generator, asset inventory and monitoring procurement, and support the control of the office
compound’s security and cleanliness. She/He will be required to ensure that administration,
accounting and HR procedures are done in accordance with project and WCF procedures, as well
as Liberian law and regulations.
Responsibilities:
 Supervises a team of mechanic drivers, through the driver team leader
 Supervises security guards
 Assists in the administration of the WCF Zwedru office
 Assists in establishing and maintaining administrative documentation and filing system
 Ensures the availability of office supplies and running of office is efficient in Zwedru
 Controls and supports good maintenance, care and cleanliness of WCF Zwedru office
through effective supervision of responsible staff
 Coordinates the procurement of goods and services
 Supports proper monitoring, control and maintenance of project inventory and assets (field
and office materials)
 Works with the Office Assistant for asset inventory and control
 Supports logistics and operational planning (including vehicle movement plan)
 Assists in making logistic and administrative arrangements for project workshops, meetings
and events
 Tracking and filing of contracts, leave and HR related documents
 Preparation of timesheets and attendance
 Liaises with Administration & Finance Manager for monthly payroll documents
 Controls correct use of vehicles and motorbikes and respective log books, incl. fuel
consumption analysis
 Supervises correct use of officer generator, maintenance and relevant documentation
 Provides support to the Senior Administrative, Finance & HR Assistant
 Performs other duties as may be required by Management
Qualifications:
 AA degree in Business Administration or its equivalent
 Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar position, preferably with an NGO
 Good computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
 Valid driving license and good driving skills (vehicle and motorbike)
 Good communication and facilitation skills
 Good administration and interpersonal skills
 Hardworking, honest, detailed oriented, and able to multi-task effectively
 Ability to work well under pressure
