Agricultural Education – Program Officer
Vacancy Notice
4-H Liberia is a national non-governmental organization that was established in 2006 for the
purpose of teaching children how to reach their full potential in agriculture sustainability and
essential life skills. Since the establishment, 4-H has trained students, teachers and staff in
school gardening and premier leadership locally and are a part of the African 4-H Network and
Global 4-H Network. The acronym 4-H stands for Head, Heart, Hands and Health.
We are currently seeking to recruit an Agricultural Education – Program Officer.
POSITION: Agricultural Education – Program Officer
DUTY STATION: In Monrovia with constant field trips to Lofa, Bong, Nimba, Gbarpolu,
Montserrado, Bomi and Margibi Counties
DURATION: A minimum two-and-a-half-year commitment beginning December 1, 2019
RESPONSIBILITIES:
At the National Level, work alongside the National Executive Director (NED):
● to design and execute national agriculture work plan and calendar of events
● to develop grant proposals
● to design trainings, camps, and the annual national agriculture fair
At the Field Level:
● Advise field officers and teachers on best practices in agriculture
● Design agriculture trainings for 4-H Field Officers and the School Agriculture Teachers
● Make a monthly visit to the field to monitor progress of the agriculture projects with
respect to the project guidelines
● Work with NED to develop a field officer performance monitoring rubric
● Receive monthly reports from the 4-H Field Officers and summarize to the National
Executive Director
● Evaluate the field officer’s performance and give recommendations to the National
Executive Director
● Attend the National Agriculture Coordination Meetings and the National Education
Stakeholder Meeting conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of
Education
REQUIREMENTS:
● Bachelor of Science Degree or above in Agriculture
● 5+ years of farming experience
● Enjoy working with community members, students and teachers
● Able to communicate well in English
● Must be a Liberian
● Ability and willingness to work under pressure
● Demonstrate report and grant writing ability
● Demonstrate ability to ride a motorbike
