Founded in 2001, Volunteers for Sustainable Development in Africa (VOSIEDA) is a Liberian nonprofit organization with a network of development professionals working to promote prosperity, reduce extreme poverty, and strengthen peace and stability in Liberia and West Africa broadly. VOSIEDA’s work focuses on saving the planet and fighting extreme poverty among women, youth, children, and other excluded groups. We advance community solutions to address development challenges and empower local people to care for nature
that sustains all lives.
VOSIEDA works across six signature programs to empower and support local communities to promote sustainable development to end extreme poverty, its root causes, and consequences in Liberia and West Africa’s Mano River Basin region, including 1). Climate Change & Environmental Sustainability, 2) Food Security & Livelihoods Enhancement, 3) Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality, 4) Media & Civic Society Strengthening 5). Governance & Social Accountability, 6). Advocacy & Social Sustainability.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist in training events/activities with respect to sustainable land use deforestation-free cocoa and rice farming.

- Shall provide technical guidance on improved conservation methods and sustainable-land use practices.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and coordination of
field activities.
- Provide training in agro-forestry, Coca nursery preparation, seed production and establish rural agro-based markets to supply climate-resilient cocoa and rice seed varieties to targeted farmers.
- Work with farmers to support Remote Rural Areas and increase farm productivity while reducing deforestation through Farmer Field Schools and other activities to build farm capacity.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
- Minimum of a degree in General Agriculture, Forestry, Environment, or a related natural sciences field.
- At least 5 years’ experience in implementation and program delivery, around climate-smart agriculture, forestry, environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, natural resource management, and community-based development planning is required.

- Ability and willingness to travel extensively in support of program implementation.
- Knowledge of extension work.
- Work experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is essential.
- Demonstrated result-based management capabilities with an ability to implement field activities.
- Excellent communication, networking, written, and presentation skills.
- Experience working in the field with rural communities and local government authorities for potentially extended periods.
