JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Agriculture and Livelihoods Sector Manager
Department: Projects
Reports To: Assistant Senior Programs Manager/Senior Programs Manager
SUMMARY
The Agriculture and Livelihoods Sector Manager is responsible for the overall
guidance, vision, and leadership of the agriculture/livelihoods programs in the
Agriculture/Livelihood sector. They are responsible to liaise with major
agriculture/livelihoods focused donors and with the MOA. They are also expected
to ensure that the SP Liberia agriculture/livelihood programs are compliant to the
standards of the MOA and the donor. The sector manager should be the lead in
making sure that all agriculture/livelihood sector meetings are attended by the
agriculture/livelihood staff and be available to present and inform donors and
leadership on agriculture/livelihood sector activities. The Agriculture/Livelihood
sector manager reports to the Sr. Program office and is expected to lead and guide
on the strategy for agriculture/livelihood programming for the SP Liberia office.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
• Work within the agriculture/livelihood sector supporting all agriculture/livelihood
programs and staff.
• Support the SPL agriculture/livelihood programs administratively in budget
management and procurement in accordance with SP Liberia’s policies and
procedures.
• Liaise with the MOA and other donors as necessary to further expand
agriculture/livelihood programming and ensure current programming is in line and
compliant with government and donor priorities and guidelines.
• Provide technical support and guidance to various agriculture/livelihood program
activities.
• Provide oversight and capacity building for agriculture/livelihood program staff.
• Oversee the monitoring and evaluation of all agriculture/livelihood program
activities; ensuring lessons learned and evaluation results are incorporated to
improve programming.
• Participate in meetings with the MOA and other coordinating and government
entities in order to collaborate on all agriculture/livelihood activities.
• Oversee the writing and submission of monthly reports, semi-annual, final and
donor reports.
• Work with the Sr. Programs office and the PDO in developing
agriculture/livelihood proposals.
• Explore funding opportunities for agriculture/livelihood programs in collaboration
with the PDO and Sr. Programs office.
• All other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Will oversee, manage and coordinate approximately 15 to 25 staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University in Agriculture or a related
field
• Masters level degree is an added advantage.
• Ability and willingness to travel to remote locations.
• 5-7 years of related field experience in agriculture/livelihood programming in a
developing country; or equivalent combination of education and experience,
• Ability to provide capacity building and training of team to be able to manage and
implement the programs effectively.
• Ability to work with partners and beneficiaries at the national and field levels.
• Strong Christian commitment.
• Team player with a positive, flexible attitude.
• Above average verbal and email communication skills.
