The Maryland Oil Palm Plantation (MOPP), which is involved with the Oil palm production; and operating in Maryland County – Liberia, requires the professional services of the following:

Position: Agric. Field Manager (Ref #: A FM / MOPP – 0809-22)

Number Needed: One (1)

Duty Station: MOPP Plantation, Maryland County

Duration: Indefinite (but begins with probationary contractual services)

Purpose:

  • Produce good quality, quantity, standard and low cost Fresh Fruit Bunches and deliver them to the factory, minimizing all losses, by exploiting the human, technical and material means at his disposal.
  • Maintain the division at its best level of production, efficiency and cleanliness within the framework of pre-established programs and budgets.
  • Ensure the application and development of the Integrated Management Systems (IMS) Quality, Health and Safety at Work, Environment (QSE), and any other reference framework to which MOPP engages, and their related activities within the Division
  • Provide administrative management and budget monitoring of the Division
  • Good technical practices and work as required
  • Regulatory compliance monitoring
  • The application of health and safety rules
  • The cleanliness of the Division

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES (Main A1. Activities) 20%

  1. Plan, coordinate and control Division activities according to the objectives set by the Plantation manager
  2. -Assist the supervisors under his authority in their duties
  3. Periodically evaluate his supervisors and propose improvement actions
  4. Ensure inside the plantation respect for discipline, regulations and administrative procedures
  5. Give, on proposal of the supervisors, all sanctions and permissions except the engagement, the promotion or the dismissal for which he must refer to the General Manager.
  6. Establish the schedule of annual vacations of division
  7. Write any activity report or information note at the request of the Plantation manager
  8. Participate with the Plantation in the preparation of the budget of the division budget
  9. Analyze existing practices and propose to the plantation Management all suggestions to improve the productivity of the division Facilitate training or work sessions within the plantation granted by the hierarchy.
  10. Ensure the application of IMS (QSE) and their related activities within the plantation (Future action after implementation)
  11. Ensure data entry in SAP MRP (Material Resource Planning) (Future action after implementation) – Participate in periodic coordination meetings led by the General Management,
  12. Periodically monitor budget execution and justify any discrepancies
  13. Keep the hierarchy informed of all important aspects that do not get within the normal operation of the division
  14. Supervise the attendance of the division staff
  15. Put issues on the agenda of the plantation manager for meetings – Attend plantation manager’s meeting

KEY INDICATORS:

1 Periodic reports rate achievement in time

2 Implementation rate of QSE / RSPO and any other referential chosen by MOP

3 Budget achievement rate Meetings

 

TECHNICAL ACTIVITIES (Main A2. Activities) (50%)

– Ensure a good management and optimization of the workforce

– Determine and ensure the harvest schedule.

– Determine and ensure the collection programs

– Determine and ensure the fertilization program according to the budget

– Ask for a daily update of these programs in order to make possible adaptations.

– Make sure FFB delivered are weighed on a reliable weighbridge.

– Ensure a plot management of the division

– Supervise by permanent rounds and analyzes of documents (QAMS, Audit, Census, Laboratory), all the operations of quality control in order to provide the best crops and the best yields.

Avoid losses of production, by following a very rigorous policy of maintenance of the plantation (manual and chemical circle weeding, pruning, manual and chemical slashing, uprooting, etc.).

– Analyze expenses and position themselves in relation to budget and production.

– Explain discrepancies from forecasts.

– Send periodic activity reports to the plantation management (daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly, yearly) as requested.

– Follow the rigorous management of tools and materials.

– Offer justified orders for materials.

– Keep charts and summaries up-to-date.

Skills and specifications

  1. a) Ability to follow established procedures and practices;
  2. b) A strong commitment to environment, health & safety guidelines;
  3. c) Good communication skills: both reading & writing;
  4. d) Computer Literacy (basic Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  5. f) Must be willing to work extra hours
  6. g) Must be willing to learn and accept corrections to suit standards

 

Knowledge/Experience required for this Job

Internal:

Education: Agronomic Engineer or General Agriculture (Bachelor’s Degree +5)

*Experience: At least 2 years of experience including 2 to 7 years of field Manager or QUAMS Manager.

 

External:

– Education: Agronomic Engineer or General Agriculture (Bachelor’s Degree +5) – Experience: At least 5 years in General Agriculture Companies with 2 to 3 years in the same position.
