Organizational Setting
The main aim of the FAO country offices, which are headed by an FAO Representative, is to assist governments to develop
policies, programmes and projects to achieve food security and to reduce hunger and malnutrition, to develop the agricultural,
fisheries and forestry sectors, and to use their environmental and natural resources in a sustainable manner..
Main Purpose
The Agriculture Field Technician will facilitate the implementation of the project’s outputs activities in assigned County. .S/he will
work closely with the County Agriculture Office, especially, the District Agriculture Officer.
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Liberia and the direct technical supervision of the project coordinator, in
collaboration with the Assistant FAO Representative (Programme) and the national project focal person from the Ministry of Agriculture
and other project staff the incumbent will support the project activities in rice and vegetable production. The incumbent will undertake
the following:
Tasks and responsibilities
Prepare a detailed work plan as per assignment;
Day-to-day supervise the overall implementation of project activities in assigned County;
Receive and distribute the inputs (seeds, tools and agro-processing equipment);
Establish farmer’s field school and conduct season training to improve farmers’ skills on best practices for rice, vegetable,
poultry and fish production
Provide technical support for the layout of farmers’ fields plots and to all agricultural activities of the project;
Ensure proper involvement of beneficiaries, MoA and other stakeholders within the County;
Monitor the implementation of activities under letter of agreement with County Agriculture Coordination Office and the progress
of beneficiaries in the crop value chains (production, post-harvest, harvest handling, soil and water management practice,
Value addition);
Keep record of beneficiary groups
Participate in the assessment and studies missions
Collect data (production, yield, organizational level) on the farmers’ groups performance
Prepare timely monthly update on the project’s activities progress
Contribute to the preparation of projects terminal reports;
Participate in organization and facilitation of meetings and workshops in the assigned county;
Perform other duties as reasonable for successful project implementation
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
University Degree in Agriculture;
Good knowledge in Rice, Cassava, and Vegetable value chain;
Minimum Three years of working experience, of which at least two years are related to extensive experience in Agriculture;
Fluency in written (both reading and writing) and spoken English and working knowledge of the local language(s) is required
Must be Computer literate
Candidates should be nationals of Liberia;

Experience with UN, and other international Organizations would be an asset
Past experience working in the UN/FAO and other international systems preferred
