Position: Area Accountant- Boys Town (Nationals Only)
Job Location: BRAC International – Monrovia, Liberia
Introduction

Purpose
The purpose of this role is to ensure effective financial management and compliance
with BRAC’s policies and procedures. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining
accurate financial records, processing transactions, conducting reconciliations, and
ensuring that all payments and procurements meet the organization’s standards. This
role supports the smooth and transparent operation of financial activities, promoting
accountability and integrity in the use of resources.
Key Responsibilities:
● Ensure that field staff follow Standard financial procedures
● Maintain daily cash register accurately
● Maintain cash advance (IOU) register updated periodically
● Prepare cash and bank reconciliation comparison with system balance
● Identifying line in budget relating to a specific expenditure (coding of expenses)
● Prepare cash and bank reconciliation comparison with system balance
● Record or post transactions in software (SBI Cloud) timely observing daily closure
● Maintain daily movement register at office
● Review all documents for payment ensuring compliance to BRAC policies and
procedures before disbursement.
● Ensuring supporting documents are accurate and approved per approval
threshold as provided by SOP before payment.
● Ensure that all field staff follow Standard Operating procedures (SOP)
● Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
● STAMP all bill “paid” after disbursement and filed accordingly
● Review all Vouchers ensuring that all supporting documents are accurate and
meet procurement and accounting policies and procedures of BRAC
● Ensure vendor(s) signed payment voucher and log upon receiving payment to
prove receipt of check
● Cash and Bank transaction monitoring ensures donor compliance.
● Maintain hard copies of vouchers after payments are made
● Print out system generated Voucher of each transaction from SBI Clouds and
attached to Payment vouchers and obtain relevant signatures
● Scan all financial documents and rename for monthly reporting and submit to the
finance manager
● File hard copies in box folders label with reporting month and project
● Follow & enforce BRAC’s procurement policies and procedures. Ensure that
appropriate procurement standards and documentation are followed in the
selection of contractors, vendors, suppliers and grantees in line with the approved
procurement Policy of BRAC;
Academic Qualifications:
• 2 + years in Accounting or related field
• Experience Accounting
Required Skills, Competencies & Knowledge:
● Have strong communications skills i.e. verbal and written
● Understand how to convey BRAC work in a respectable, compelling and
empowering manner.
● Ability to manage budgets and meet set targets
● Bachelor’s degree including experience working with NGO.
● Ability to work with a range of technical staff and develop professional
relationships.
● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
● Proficient in Microsoft word and excel
● Being able to work extra hours beyond regular work hours.
