PREVAIL, or the Partnership for Research on Vaccines and Infectious Diseases in Liberia, is a clinical research partnership between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Liberian Ministry of Health
Summary of Position:
The Assistant Director will provide strategic guidance, direction, and oversight over the external partnership activities of the PREVAIL network. S/he will ensure and facilitate the development and execution of strategic relationships with partners and stakeholders within the research and development community, both locally and internationally. These include the Government of Liberia agencies, the U.S. Government and other governmental agencies, as well as other local and global organizations. The Assistant Director for External Partnerships will assist in identifying and developing new partnerships that support PREVAIL’s mission and contribute to PREVAIL’s sustainability. The position will also provide management and leadership for the operational design, implementation, and execution of regulatory ethics and compliance, social mobilization and community engagement activities under clinical trials.
Description of Responsibilities:
• Collaborates with the Network Director, Deputy Directors, and other Assistant Directors to secure mutually beneficial partnerships that advance PREVAIL’s mission of conducting excellent clinical research in Liberia that will inform public health policy and approaches to improving global health.
• Builds and manages a portfolio of partnerships with local and international organizations.
• Designs and executes strategic plans to strengthen and deepen existing relationships and ensure effective joint project implementation.
• Collaborates with the leadership team and OMT to organize and coordinate partner engagement events and make presentations related to the PREVAIL research activities.
• Engages with internal groups at PREVAIL to build appropriate mutual relationships.
• Attends partnership meetings, represents PREVAIL, and reports meeting outcomes to PREVAIL leadership.
• Ensures due diligence and risk analysis are completed for potential partner relationships.
• Provides oversight on Social Mobilization, Communication, and Engagement activities with participants and stakeholders of the overall program.
• Provides oversight on Regulatory, Ethics, and Compliance of the overall program.
• Provides oversight on Tracking mechanics for participants’ follow-ups and retention.

Qualifications
 Education: Master’s degree in Sociology or public health or social sciences.
 Preferred Job-related Experience: At least three (3) years of relevant experience in development in a governmental, multilateral, or civil society organization in a multi-cultural setting, including senior-level management responsibilities in a challenging and complex organizational setting.
 Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Minimum of three (3) years’ experience managing staff in multiple levels of an organization, both management and individual contributor level staff.
