CONTRACTOR VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: Associate Research Assistant
OPEN TO: Liberian with a bachelor’s degree in nursing or physician assistant Degree with
research work experience preferrable.
CLOSING DATE: October 31st, 2024
LOCATION: Based at UNC site at Phebe Hospital compound
WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday.
DURATION: 3 months contract renewable based on projects and fundings
SALARY: 450 USD per month with private health insurance.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

The University of North Carolina (UNC) with its partners in Liberia are collaborating to conduct multiple studies. The studies focus but is not limited on Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers, like Lassa fever and Ebola. These studies examine the incidence, prevalence, and clinical features of various fever-causing pathogens and clinical disease.
• In accordance with Good Clinical Practice, you will collect required data in the community and at local out-patient clinic facilities, including:
o Administration of surveys via tablet or computer
o Safe collection and transport of blood specimen by phlebotomy
o Timely response to data queries and accurate record keeping at all times
o Confidentiality when handling participant data
• Support the Lead Research Assistant and Research Assistants in coordinating community engagement and participant follow up activities, which may include but not be limited to:
o Collaboration with Community Health Volunteers to coordinate follow up visits
o Liaising with target community leadership and eminent persons to cultivate and maintain support for the project
o Responding to inquiries regarding study objectives, eligibility, and informed consent from study participants and community members
• With support from the Lead Research Assistant and Research Project Managers, ensure compliance with protocol guidelines, study-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Channel all necessary communications relating to study activities, which may include but not be limited to daily reports, adverse events, serious adverse events, etc.
• Maintain licensure, training and associated skills related to position.
• Provide support to parallel studies within UNC and perform other duties as required per management.
