About Green Cities Incorporated (GCI) and the NOURISH Family Farms Project

Green Cities Incorporated (GCI) is Liberia’s first waste segregation and recycling social enterprise, dedicated to turning waste challenges into environmental and economic opportunities. GCI is leading a consortium of three including Say No To Hunger Multipurpose Farmers Cooperative Society (SNOTHFaMCoS) and Action Against Hunger (AAH) to implement the “Nutrition and Organic Uptake for Resilient Inclusive Sustainable Harvests for Family Farms Project” in Nimba and Montserrado counties in 24 months. The project is implemented with technical and financial support of ECOWAS and with financial participation of the French Development Agency and the European Union Commission.

 

Position Overview

To lead business development, partnership engagement, and market systems strengthening for organic biofertilizers and biopesticides while actively supporting implementation of the NOURISH–Family Farms project. The role ensures strong linkages between Green Cities Inc. Liberia (GCI)’s production systems, Say No to Hunger Farmers’ Multipurpose Cooperative Society (SNOTHFaMCoS) farmer networks, and Action Against Hunger (AAH)’s nutrition and program components.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Project Implementation and Coordination
  • Support the implementation of project activities across Components 1 and 2, ensuring alignment between production, distribution, and farmer access.
  • Participate in joint planning, coordination meetings, and field missions with GCI, SNOTHFaMCoS, and AAH.
  • Ensure effective collaboration between technical and field teams.

 

  1. Market Systems and Distribution Development
  • Design and operationalize distribution networks for organic inputs targeting agro-dealers, cooperatives, and rural retailers.
  • Strengthen last-mile delivery systems to ensure accessibility for farmers.
  • Support rollout and utilization of the SMART AGRO App and physical market outlets.

 

  1. Private Sector Engagement and Partnerships
  • Identify, engage, and manage distributors, agro-dealers, and other private sector actors.
  • Build and maintain long-term partnerships that support market expansion.
  • Facilitate onboarding and performance monitoring of distribution partners.

 

  1. Public-Private Partnerships (PPP)
  • Support collaboration frameworks between Green Cities Inc., the consortium members and government stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of MoUs and partnership agreements.
  • Promote coordinated action across the value chain.

 

  1. Market Analysis and Business Strategy
  • Conduct market research to identify demand trends, pricing dynamics, and growth opportunities.
  • Provide input into pricing, branding, and commercialization strategies.
  • Monitor market performance and recommend improvements.

 

  1. Farmer Access and Product Adoption
  • Work closely with SNOTHFaMCoS to link farmers to certified organic inputs.
  • Support awareness campaigns, demonstrations, and farmer engagement activities in collaboration.
  • Promote adoption through both digital and physical channels.

 

  1. Reporting and Documentation
  • Maintain records of partnerships, distribution networks, and sales performance.
  • Contribute to project reports, donor reporting, and knowledge-sharing activities.

 

  1. Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agribusiness, Economics, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Additional training in value chain development, Agro-ecology, entrepreneurship, or market systems is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Agroecology, business development, agribusiness, or market systems development.
  • Demonstrated experience working with farmer cooperatives, agro-dealers, or rural enterprises.
  • Experience in partnership development, stakeholder engagement, and private sector collaboration.
  • Proven experience in market research, sales, or commercialization of products.
  • Experience working in donor-funded or NGO projects is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural value chains and input distribution systems.
  • Knowledge of market systems development approaches and private sector engagement.
  • Understanding of agroecology, organic inputs, or sustainable agriculture is an added advantage.
  • Familiarity with digital platforms for agriculture (e.g., market information systems).
