Position Overview

 

The CFO will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team. The incumbent will oversee all financial operations, drive capital strategies, and safeguard the company against legal and fiscal risks. Working closely with the Senior Management Team (SMT), the CEO and Board, the CFO will provide commercial insight, ensure financial stability, support strategic decision-making, and drive operational and financial efficiency across the business.

The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in corporate tax strategies, fiscal legislation, and compliance. The successful candidate will combine strong technical financial expertise with strategic leadership and commercial acumen. This seasoned strategist not only will understand current accounting practices and trends but also will have experience raising capital and adapting to change, whether it’s through growth or downsizing. As a member of senior management, the CFO will be comfortable in a leadership role that requires clear and effective communication skills.

The goal is to protect the company’s revenues and profits to achieve full financial control and sustainable growth.

 

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute the Company’s financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to the Executive Leadership Team, CEO, and Board
  • Support long-term growth initiatives, investments, and business planning activities.
  • Drive value creation and sustainable financial performance.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling processes.
  • Deliver accurate financial reporting, analysis, and performance insights.
  • Monitor financial KPIs and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Support data-driven decision-making across the Company.

Financial Control & Governance

  • Ensure robust financial controls, policies, and compliance frameworks are in place.
  • Oversee statutory reporting, audit processes, and tax compliance.
  • Maintain compliance with all financial regulations and corporate governance requirements.
  • Manage organisational risk, treasury, and cash flow effectively.

Commercial & Operational Support

  • Partner with operational leaders to improve business performance and profitability.
  • Identify opportunities for cost optimisation and operational efficiency.
  • Support pricing strategies, commercial negotiations, and investment decisions.
  • Evaluate potential mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, or fundraising opportunities.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure succession planning and capability development within the finance function.
  • Promote collaboration across departments and functions.

Stakeholder Management

  • Manage relationships with clients, banks, auditors, advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Present financial performance and strategic updates to the Board and stakeholders.
  • Support clients’ relations and fundraising initiatives where applicable.
  • Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the Executive Leadership Team.

Tax Strategy

  • Optimize corporate tax structures to maximize financial efficiency.

Legislation & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all national, local, and international financial laws.

Financial Reporting

  • Oversee preparation of accurate financial statements and shareholder reports.

Risk Management

  • Mitigate corporate financial risks and manage external audit processes.

Treasury & Capital

  • Manage capital allocation, corporate investments, and banking relationships.

Team Governance

  • Direct and mentor the internal accounting, tax, and finance teams

Responsibilities

  • Work with senior managers to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information, and ensure contract compliance and reporting
  • Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyse internal operations, and identify areas for cost reduction and process enhancement
  • Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments, and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives
  • Work with the HR by coordinating with external service providers (ex: payroll, benefits, recruitment) and internal staff responsible for other aspects of HR
  • Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for earnings calls, management team, and rest of the Company
  • Manage finance personnel and oversee financial IT systems, ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory entities (ex: Financial Accounting Standards Board, Internal Revenue Service, state attorneys general)

Candidate Profile

Experience

  • Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, VP Finance, or senior financial executive.
  • Strong track record of financial leadership within the private security industry
  • Experience managing financial strategy, reporting, and operational finance functions.
  • Demonstrated success supporting business growth, transformation, or scaling organisations.
  • Experience working with Boards, corporate clients, and external stakeholders.
  • M&A, fundraising, or private equity exposure advantageous where relevant.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Law, or Business Administration.

Certification: CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional accounting designation required.

Experience: Minimum of 10+ years in senior financial leadership roles.

Legal Expertise: Proven track record managing complex tax codes and corporate legislation.

Tech Savvy: Advanced proficiency in ERP systems and predictive financial modelling tools.

Communication: Exceptional negotiation skills and ability to present complex data to a Board.

  • Working knowledge of how to raise capital outside traditional lines of credit

Preferred skills and qualifications

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in accounting, business accounting, or finance
  • International finance experience
  • Experience in mergers and acquisitions and investor relations
  • Executive experience with SaaS business models and their associated revenue recognition
  • Professional certification (ex: Certified Public Accountant)
