Position Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership and ensure the long-term financial health of our organization. As a key member of the executive team, the CFO will drive financial strategy, risk management, and regulatory compliance, while ensuring optimal capital allocation and adherence to insurance industry standards, including IFRS 17. The CFO will play a crucial role in shaping the company’s financial policies and supporting sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement financial strategy, goals, and budgets in collaboration with the Board and Executive Management.
· Provide strategic insights on financial performance, capital allocation, and investment decisions to drive business growth.
· Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and regulatory reports, ensuring compliance with IFRS 17, local financial regulations, and solvency requirements.
· Implement and monitor strong financial control systems and risk management frameworks to enhance financial integrity.
· Work closely with actuaries and underwriting teams to optimize risk transfer and profitability.
· Manage tax filings, capital adequacy, and solvency requirements, ensuring compliance with industry and statutory obligations.
· Oversee investment and asset-liability management (ALM) to align with long-term financial and risk objectives.
· Monitor claims trends, reserving policies, and actuarial coordination to assess their financial impact.
· Lead the transition from US GAAP to IFRS 17 compliance, ensuring seamless adoption of new reporting standards.
· Supervise and mentor Finance Department staff, ensuring efficient financial operations and team development.
· Drive operational efficiency by leveraging technology and automation for financial reporting and data analytics.
· Represent the company in key engagements with regulators, external auditors, investors, and financial institutions.
Key Requirements:
· Strong strategic leadership and financial acumen, with the ability to influence business decisions at the executive level.
· Extensive knowledge of insurance industry financial management, regulatory requirements, and IFRS 17 compliance.
· Experience in risk management, capital adequacy planning, and investment oversight.
· Ability to engage and collaborate effectively with Board members, regulators, auditors, and investors.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with expertise in financial modeling and forecasting.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting financial insights to senior management and the Board.
· High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to corporate governance.
· Proficiency in financial reporting tools, accounting software, and data analytics.
Education & Experience:
· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field from a recognized university; an MBA in Finance or Accounting is highly desirable.
· A recognized professional accounting qualification (CPA, CA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is required.
· At least Seven (7) years of post-qualification experience, with a minimum of three (3) years in a senior finance leadership role within the financial services industry.
