JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Chief of Security

REPORT TO: General Manager

DEPARTMENT: Administration

Job Brief:

We are looking for a competent Chief of Security to monitor our premises and protect our staff, properties, and visitors. You will detect suspicious behavior and prevent vandalism, theft, or other criminal behavior. You must be able to supervise private security guards assigned to the company. By keeping our facilities safe and problem-free, you will help the company maintain excellent working conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall guidance for industrial and personnel security, security services, and emergency management.
  • Serves as the primary interface with the customer regarding functional areas of responsibility.
  • He/she should be able to lead a team of assigned private security guards with care, diligence, and courage to foster good industrial security standards.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include, weekends, and holidays, or call for duty when necessary.
  • Patrol premises regularly to ensure assigned private security guards on guard posts.
  • Investigate people for suspicious activity or possessions
  • Respond to alarms by investigating and assessing the situation
  • Submit reports of daily surveillance activity and important occurrences
  • Ensure work is planned, assigned, and supervised adequately for efficient delivery of security activities.
  • Ensure that assigned private security guards adhere to security protocol and safety rules, approval security schedule, and time utilized.
  • Respond swiftly to employees’ security concerns/ complaints and provide necessary solutions to the problem in consultation with the HR Manager.
  • Report bio-weekly/ monthly to the General manager and copy to the HR Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as criminal justice, law enforcement, police administration, or criminology. Equivalent education/experience is acceptable.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in security, criminal justice,
  • or law enforcement administration experience in the armed forces, police, or related field.
  • 2 years must have been at the supervisory level.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Identifies and resolves problems promptly; gathers and analyses information skilfully, develops alternative solutions, works well in group problem-solving situations.
  • Writes clearly and informatively.
  • Proven experience as a security officer or guard
  • Knowledge of legal guidelines for area security and public safety
  • Familiarity with report writing
  • Excellent surveillance and observation skills
