Living Water International (LWI), headquartered in Houston, Texas – USA, is a global Christian non-governmental organization that exists to demonstrate the love of God by helping communities acquire desperately needed clean water and to experience “Living Water,” the gospel of Jesus Christ which alone satisfies the deepest thirst. LWI programs are clustered into three key sectors mainly, water access, hygiene & sanitation promotion, and Church and community engagement. Since its inception in 1990, Living Water has seen incredible growth in its over 32-years history. The organization has maintained active operations in 21 countries across Africa, India, Latin America, and the Caribbean. Living Water is involved in designing and constructing simple and larger, piped water systems utilizing groundwater development (boreholes), gravity flow systems, solar power, surface water abstraction, rainwater harvesting, and a variety of other technologies. Living Water has completed over 21,000 community water projects including various water access technologies, Sanitation and Hygiene training, and community mobilization through existing local institutions.
The following position has become available at Living Water International for Liberian nationals only.
POSITION: CHURCH AND COMMUNITY MOBILIZATION FACILITATOR
The preferred candidate will be required to:
• Participate in program development activities e.g. Assessments, baseline designs, and evaluation.
• Lead and facilitate water safety planning, promoting environmental cleanliness, proper waste management, etc
• Ensure the sustainability of WASH facilities in project communities.
• Engage with community leaders (denominational structures, churches, and network bodies) in the envisioning and design of the program.
• Identify, and profile through Salesforce, all churches in the program area during the design phase.
• Ensure that district- and community-level envisioning workshops are truly creative, resulting in a shared vision for flourishing in the local community.
• Mobilize and empower local churches to effectively proclaim the Gospel.
• Focus primarily on the outcome of churches taking on specific and ongoing roles in the program (e.g., messenger, demonstrator, implementer, guardian, and/or advocate) rather than on outputs (e.g., event attendance).
• Ensure data entry and the monitoring of all active churches in the program area Salesforce.
• Identify, train, and support local volunteers as Flourish facilitators in the WASH Program Area (WPA).
• Implement Community and Church Mobilization activities and as the integrative framework for all aspects of Living Water programs, determine the timing of when sanitation and hygiene promotion activities should take place, and when WASH services should be improved.
• Ensure the training of Flourish Facilitators, Water user committee for the sustainability of WASH facilities.
• Ensure that all LWI quality standards are followed for all CCM Activities.
• Ensure compliance with LWI requirements for program management i.e. LWIS, quarterly reports, monthly reports, project specific reports, donor reports, and MSC stories.
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
The preferred candidate will have the following skills and experience:
• Diploma in community development / social studies / theological training or a related field.
• Proven experience working with churches and communities to develop strategic missions.
• 2+ years of experience working in community mobilization methods that support Church and Community Mobilization.
• Microsoft, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
• English language skills at an advanced level.
• Implementation, Facilitation, and People management skills
• Public Relations & Networking
This position requires successful candidates to contribute towards promoting and adhering to the Living Water International purpose, basis of faith, core values, and operating principles.
