About PREVAIL:

PREVAIL, or the Partnership for Research on Vaccines and Infectious Diseases in Liberia, is a clinical research partnership between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Liberian Ministry of Health.

Summary of Position:

Oversees the strategic planning, development and coordination for the media relations and communications to promote the PREVAIL clinical research program occurring in West Africa. Consults with leadership, management, stakeholders, communication liaisons and other functional entities (e.g., Social Mobilization Committee).

Description of Responsibilities:

Manages the preparation of public relations projects, media advertising, and recommends the media/communication strategy in collaboration with other key stakeholders best suited to communicate research and community awareness activities and results,

Facilitates internal communications, such as newsletters, communication plansand other communication activities to support internal programawareness.

Defines marketing and communication objectives and strategies, and translates strategies into communication tactics, including project management, planning, scheduling, and budgeting, Assist in writing and fitting content for the PREVAIL Website and update the content of the site using the CMS. but the planning, design and sourcing of a host

Manages the Facebook page to ensure contents are appropriate and work with Administrators on a daily basis and responding to commentators.

Assist in writing/editing the content posted on the Facebook page

Establish and implement a communications and social marketing strategy to promote PREVAIL’s Facebook profile

Create content calendar that supports the strategy and its goals, in close consultation with the SMC Manager and relevant members of the communications team

Measure Page activities and provide periodic reports/page updates to the SMC manager Collaborates with appropriate team members to plan, develop, and produce promotional tools and media vehicles to support awareness strategies for the PREVAIL Program,

Researches and develops content for communication and media activities,

Documents the PREVAIL Program, and do other duties as assigned.

Skills:

Ability to act as a liaison to create and maintain positive relationships withinLiberia, U.S. agencies, and the public using established media outlets.

Ability to create viable press releases and manage public events.

Ability to create a communications protocol to effectively describe and promote using graphics, brochures, company or product fact sheets, logos, or other

promotional products.

Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously.

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines consistently while adhering the strictest of quality standards.

Ability to write efficiently and fluently using the English language.

Most be a good and effective communicator with the ability to communicate complex information in a way the public and a layman can understand.

Most be comfortable with using MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint professionally.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field. Preferred Job-related Experience: At least three (3) years of media/public relations experience is required.
