C ommunications Officer OBJECTIVE: Volunteers for Sustainable Development in Africa (VOSIEDA) is seeking to recruit a Communications Officer to assist in various aspects of communications – digital, publications, events and more, and support the Communications Unit.

BACKGROUND

Founded in 2000, Volunteers for Sustainable Development in Africa (VOSIEDA) is a Liberian nonprofit and a network of development professionals working to promote prosperity, reduce extreme poverty, and strengthen peace and stability in Liberia and West Africa’s Mano River Union Basin region. VOSIEDA’s work focuses on saving the planet and fighting extreme poverty among women, youth, children, and other excluded groups. We advance community solutions to address development challenges and empower local people to care for nature that sustains all lives.

VOSIEDA works across five signature programs to empower and support local communities to promote sustainable development to end extreme poverty, its root causes, and consequences in Liberia and West Africa’s Mano River Basin region including 1). Climate Change & Environmental Sustainability, 2) Food Security & Livelihoods Enhancement, 3) Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality, 4) Governance & Social Development, 5) Media & Civic Society Strengthening.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Support the development and implementation of a communication and visibility plan for VOSIEDA and its various programs.
  • Manages and elaborates content on VOSIEDA website, one of the principal mediums of communication of the organization, ensuring information is clearly presented, relevant, and continuously updated.
  • Maintain VOSIEDA presence on various social media platforms and help create and publish content that is relevant to our communities; regularly analyze and report on the activity on social media networks and website.
  • Maintain a database of key stakeholders and media.
  • Supports VOSIEDA to draft and disseminate key reports, such as the annual Results Report, to internal and external audiences.
  • Assisting in creating visual products based on text-based knowledge products and other strategic evidence (i.e., static/kinetic infographic, PSA video, vox pop video, etc
  • Identify target groups and distribute communication materials.
  • Keeps abreast of the activities of all VOSIEDA Programs operation in Liberia, and regularly updates the VOSIEDSA Team and management

Qualifications and Eligibility

  • Candidates are required to possess a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication, with additional certifications in writing and editing, graphic design, digital marketing, social media management, and related fields.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in communications in the development sector.
