Position: Full-Time Communications Associate
Duty Station: Monrovia (with periodic travel as required)
Direct Supervisor: Head of Programs
Duration: One (1) Year
Founded in 2011, Youth Movement for Collective Action is a registered
non-governmental, non-political and non-for-profit organization, which
strongly believed that a good education is the key to breaking the cycle
of poverty and can create a better future for children and their families. UMOVEMENT programs
complement the effort of the Ministry of Education and the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) – 3: Good health and well-being for people, 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality
education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all and 5: Achieve gender equality and
empower all women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and
representation in political and economic decision-making processes which fuel sustainable
economies and benefit societies and humanity at large. The Core Programs of Youth Movement
for Collective Action are Education, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention and Livelihoods.
UMOVEMENT is seeking a full-time Communications Associate to join our growing team by
working directly with the Head of Programs to manage all communication and PR responsibilities.
Your primary responsibilities will be public relations and social media. You will also help the Head
of Programs manage marketing materials, website development, and related projects as needed.
Responsibilities
• Public Relations: Build national visibility of UMOVEMENT programs and brand by
securing traditional and new media publicity. Collaborate with UMOVEMENT PR contacts
on story ideas and social media strategies to drive awareness and create interest from
other programs.
• Brand Identity: Manage all aspects of UMOVEMENT brand identity and ensure that the
principles and aesthetics are captured in all external communications.
• Social Media: Lead in consultation with the Development Manager with management of
social media outlets including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn including
creating engaging content, posting articles and continuously improving strategy by
capturing and analyzing social data/metrics, insights and best practices.
• Blog Program: Manage the blog program by working closely with beneficiaries to
schedule, develop and edit their personal stories on topics including leadership
development, internships, etc.
• Marketing Materials: Coordinate design needs including fliers, invitations,
UMOVEMENT annual gala event materials, etc. with the graphic designer.
• Website Development: Maintain and update the organization’s website with new
photos, news articles, event announcements, press releases, newsletters, etc.
• Newsletters: Create, edit and format the monthly/quarterly UMOVEMENT newsletter,
biannual fundraising appeals, annual report, and other public announcements as needed.
• Photography: Capture photos at UMOVEMENT community events and maintain
organization of all images in filing system.
• Others: Prepare weekly briefings and other written materials and presentations for
internal and external use and support the development of national policy briefings and
reports as required and support media engagement strategies globally by providing written
materials and inputs where required.
Qualifications
• Must be an excellent writer and have a passion for storytelling
• Experienced brand manager with marketing experience
• Must have experience with MailChimp, social media analytics, blogging, website
development, photography using a DSLR camera
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• Resourceful, organized, excellent attention to detail, personable
• Technology savvy. Has capacity to bring new technology ideas to our program
• Capacity to work and thrive in a growing, fast-paced organization with a collaborative
environment
Compensation
• This is a 40-hour a week salaried position
• Job requires you work Monday-Friday in the Project office. As a national organization,
many calls, meetings and email correspondence occur during the weekends and in
evenings, and you will need to be accessible and occasionally come in outside those stated
hours.
• Salary will be competitive based on experience
• This position does not include benefits and requires a smart phone
