BACKGROUND

A major company is seeking to hire a professional to lead its community relations program. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills, as well as an ability to foster positive relationships with individuals, organizations and stakeholders. The community relations manager will be the principal ambassador for the company to the host communities, addressing internal audiences and the public to share the company’s vision and plans for achieving it. This individual will be assigned in a rural area and must be open to rural locations.
Essential Functions
• Organize community outreach programs and coordinate special events that promote products, services, and ideas of the company
• Draft and distribute communications that promote the company as well as individuals and groups within it
• Attend relevant events and activities to represent the company and build strong relationships with key community members
• Respond to inquiries from community members and other parties, and recruit knowledgeable spokespeople or information sources for assistance when needed
• Build and promote cross-functional relationships within the company
• Plan, coordinate, and execute public press conferences, working with third-party PR agencies when necessary Successful applicant should have at least a master’s degree in a social science, developmental studies or the equivalent, from a respectable university and be willing to work in rural areas.
Required Education and Experience
Master’s degree ten (10) years’ related experience in community relations for companies. Specifically for extractive operations in rural areas.

Preferred Education and Experience
1. Bachelor’s degree (master’s degree is a plus) in the relevant social sciences, developmental studies, or the equivalent, from a respectable and accredited university.
General and Special Knowledge

a. Familiarity with the Social Impact Assessment and Social Management Policies

b. Experience with resettlement action plans especially based on IFC performance standards and the Equator Principles,

c. Experience in designing and implementing Stakeholder Engagement and Livelihood Restoration plans as well as Grievance Management policies,

d. Must be a team leader and effective manager, prepared to lead a team of about 20 persons working in various locations, providing proper guidance, setting key performance indicators (KPI) and conducting performance evaluations based on the KPI’s.

e. Must have some experience in budget preparation.
