Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (2weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Position is within the consular section of U.S. Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia. Conducts in-depth interviews and site investigations in connection with applications for visas and citizenship services. Conducts detailed investigative research in consular systems. Succinctly summarizes results of interviews and site visits in oral and written reports containing pertinent facts and conclusions. Responsible for gathering/analyzing data and writing three major reports per year. Provides back up support for the full range of services for American citizens and visa processing, to include intake, processing, printing, and passback, as assigned. Assists with answering telephone calls from the public. Coordinates DNA testing.
JOB KNOWLEDGE:Must have good knowledge of Liberian civil documents, sources of information, and familiarity with applicable local laws, such
as those pertaining to marriage, divorce and adoption. Incumbent will have a high level working knowledge of Liberian culture,
geography, ethic groups, socio-economic issues, language and government bureaucracy. This may be tested.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; computer and data-management skills; keyboard typing skills with speed of at least 40 words per minute and accuracy required; time-management skills; ability to perform basic math in order to draft visa validations studies; and organizational skills. Ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment, and resourcefulness in evaluating casework. Ability to treat privileged and sensitive information with absolute integrity. Must demonstrate tact, patience, an ability to work well under pressure and keep pace with several contiguous responsibilities. Ability to develop and maintain an extensive range of outside contacts and sources of information. Ability to draft reports in clear and precise English. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. This may be tested.
