THE IRC GLOBALLY AND IN LIBERIA

Over 90 years ago, Albert Einstein helped create the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Today, we are a leading humanitarian and development organization working in more than 50 countries and 26 U.S. cities to help people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future.

The IRC has been present in Liberia since 1996, serving as a leading partner in the health sector and supporting the Ministry of Health (MOH) in strengthening the health care systems and service delivery at all levels following the MOH national standards. The IRC strives to make measurable progress in the Liberian people’s health, safety, and decision-making power of Liberian people. Currently, the IRC Liberia operates in Lofa, Bong, and the southeast (River Gee and Grand Kru) Counties. Since 1996, the organization has worked in 11 of 15 counties within Liberia, namely Montserrado, Lofa, Nimba, Bong, Grand Gedeh, Maryland, River Gee, Grand Bassa, Margibi, Bomi, and Grand Cape Mount.

Overview:

In August 2022, the IRC released a report outlining 25 years (1996 – 2021) of Humanitarian Accomplishment in Liberia, named “IRC LIBERIA A LEGACY OF HUMANITARIAN ACCOMPLISHMENTS“. IRC seeks to engage an external consultant to write the “Annex” of IRC Liberia’s 2021 – 2025 operational existence report (to be added as an ANNEX to the August 2022 Legacy Report). This person will serve as a senior-level professional consultant in writing the IRC Liberia operational existence reports for the last four years and will be supported by the Liberia Senior Management Team (SMT) and headquarters colleagues.

The Consultant will work closely with the Grants, Programs, and other departments as required. The Consultant-Report Writer will work on-site and remotely and travel to field offices where appropriate. The Consultant will also collaborate closely with IRC’s HQ Communications team to ensure branding aligns with IRC’s global policy.

The specific tasks of the Consultant will comprise the following responsibilities and deliverables:

Responsibilities/Scope of Work:

  • Develop professional operational existence reports for the IRC with an innovative approach, highlighting the impact of programming between 2021-2025 and partnership works in Liberia (infographics, charts, visuals, etc.), adhering to report organizational branding standards.
  • Develop and present an approach/methodology to preparing the report based on the desk review of documents/reports to ensure sufficient input with information and data gathered from project files, to be added as an ANNEX to the Liberia Legacy Report.
  • Draft an outline for the Annex based on research and consultations within the Liberia Project and Operations Team and relevant & internal stakeholders to ensure that the content accurately reflects and includes the significant results achieved by the IRC.
  • Streamline and collate inputs from team members and integrate feedback related to the following areas: (resource mobilization, communication/advocacy, lessons learned, and way forward)
  • Develop ideas for graphics and charts that creatively convey key messages/data in the report, write captions for the photos in the publication, and ensure that they include human/success stories with photos and pictures, in line with IRC imagery guidelines.
  • Produce PowerPoint slides with a brief presentation on the report.
  • Produce a short (narrative part) final report with the executive summary, foreword, as a stand-alone Annex to the Liberia Legacy Report, and visually memorable and appealing result-oriented summary/highlights to be presented to IRC’s regional/HQ leadership.

Key Deliverables:

  • Draft outline for the annex, after conducting desk review, research of existing and past reports, and relevant documents on hand in a suitable format to be validated by the IRC Communication team.
  • Draft report as a Word document, including Table of Contents, Executive Summary, charts, photo captions, illustrations, and credit information.
  • Submit an official draft of reports to IRC Liberia SMT and IRC Communication for review and approval.
  • Submit Final Reports

Target Audience:

With the diverse range of internal and external relationships and interactions IRC has had over the last four (4) years of the implementation of Projects and the importance of the IRC works in Liberia, the Consultant Report Writer will engage the following stakeholders, but not limited to:

  • Donors
  • Government
  • Partners – International, National, and Local Organizations
  • IRC’s Beneficiaries
  • Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)

Printing and delivery:

  • The Consultant Report Writer will submit a final report to the IRC in softcopy that is easily printable.
  • The IRC is responsible for effectively and efficiently managing the printing, and binding of the report.
