Position: Development Manager
Institution: University of Liberia College of Health Sciences (ULCHS)
Department: Office of External Engagement
Location: Monrovia, Liberia
The Development Manager will source and develop additional revenue streams for the College of Health Sciences. The Development Manager will lead resource mobilization, fundraising, and marketing of programs at ULCHS, expanding visibility and partnerships both domestically (within Liberia) and internationally. Specific areas of responsibility include:
Fundraising and Resource Mobilization
- Develop and execute a comprehensive 18-month fundraising strategy targeting international and domestic funders, corporations, foundations, and individual philanthropists.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
- Write concept notes, proposals, and/or applications for funding.
- Organize and implement fundraising campaigns and events.
Marketing and Promotion of Courses and Training Programs
- Craft and deploy marketing campaigns to increase paid enrollment into courses and training programs offered by the ULCHS Center for Teaching, Learning, and Innovation. This includes public advertising to attract individual participants as well as advocacy to drive awareness among organizations/employers to increase sponsored enrollment in courses.
- Promote the Center’s programs through partnerships with local and international education and health institutions.
Partnerships and Donor Relations
- Initiate and maintain strong relationships with philanthropic organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and other potential funding entities.
- Provide updates and reports to donors as needed.
Reporting and Monitoring
- Prepare periodic internal reports on fundraising activities, including key achievements against the strategy, financial performance, and strategic recommendations.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of resource mobilization and donor engagement strategies, adjusting as necessary to improve effectiveness.

The Development Manager will be based at the Center for Teaching, Learning and Innovation, University of Liberia College of Health Sciences (Dogliotti Campus, Catholic Junction, Congo Town, Monrovia).
The Development Manager will report to the External Engagement Director.
- POSITION AND DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT:
Development Manager is a contracted full-time role for one year, renewable based on performance and availability of funds.
- At least 5 years of experience in fundraising, resource mobilization, donor relations, or a similar role, preferably in a higher education or nonprofit environment.
- Proven track record in successfully securing funding from diverse sources, including individuals, philanthropic organizations, and international donors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively convey the College’s mission and vision.
- Experience in marketing educational programs or services, with demonstrated skills in developing and implementing strategic marketing plans.
- Proficiency in grant writing, proposal development, budgeting, and report writing.
- Knowledge of the philanthropic landscape, particularly in health education or related fields.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, manage multiple concurrent projects, and meet deadlines.

- Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
