With funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Liberia, Serving Humanity for Empowerment and Development (SHED) and BASA Development Initiatives (BDI) are jointly implementing a 36-month project titled “Advancing Youth Economic Inclusion through Skills Training and Green Jobs in Liberia.” SHED serves as the lead implementing organization. The project aims to advance the economic inclusion and resilience of young people, particularly young women, in Bong, Margibi, Grand Cape Mount, and Nimba Counties by equipping them with market-relevant green skills and creating pathways to decent employment, sustainable entrepreneurship, and climate-resilient livelihoods.

SHED is a Liberian organization established as a national office following FCA’s ten (10) years of work in Liberia. 1. JOB/POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY

The Driver will provide safe, reliable, and timely transportation services to project staff, consultants, partners, materials, and authorized visitors in support of project implementation. The Driver will ensure that project vehicles are properly operated, maintained, serviced, and used in accordance with SHED/BDI vehicle management policies and safety requirements. The position will involve regular travel to project communities and target counties and may require extended field travel depending on project activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Safely transport authorized staff, consultants, partners, project participants, materials, and equipment as assigned.
• Drive project vehicles responsibly and in accordance with national traffic laws and organizational policies.
• Ensure timely arrival of staff and materials at project locations.
• Support transportation requirements for field visits, trainings, workshops, meetings, distributions, monitoring activities, and other project events.
• Assist with transportation arrangements during extended field missions.
• Conduct daily checks of the vehicle before use, including fuel, oil, tires, brakes, lights, battery, coolant, and other essential components.
• Maintain the vehicle in clean, safe, and roadworthy condition.
• Report mechanical problems and maintenance requirements promptly.
• Ensure vehicles receive scheduled servicing and necessary repairs.
• Maintain accurate vehicle maintenance and service records.
• Monitor fuel consumption and maintain accurate vehicle logbooks.
• Report accidents, damage, theft, or other incidents immediately to the appropriate supervisor.
• Ensure vehicle registration, insurance, inspection, and other required documentation remain valid.
• Maintain accurate daily vehicle logbooks.
• Record mileage, fuel consumption, destinations, passengers, and other required information.
• Ensure vehicle keys and documents are properly secured when not in use.
• Assist project staff with loading and unloading equipment and materials when required.
• Provide reasonable operational support to project teams when requested and within the scope of the position.
• Observe all road safety requirements and organizational security procedures.
• Ensure authorized passengers use appropriate safety measures, including seat belts.
• Immediately report security or safety concerns encountered during field travel.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of secondary school education or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license appropriate for the type of vehicle operated.
• Professional driving training or defensive driving certification is an advantage.
• Basic vehicle maintenance/mechanical knowledge is desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO, development organization, international organization, or private-sector institution.
• Demonstrated experience driving safely in Monrovia and rural/field locations in Liberia.
• Previous experience supporting field-based development or humanitarian programmes is an advantage.
