The Government of Liberia, through the Liberian Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MGCSP) is implementing the Liberia Women Empowerment Project (LWEP) (P173677) with financing from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank Group. The LWEP aims to improve social and livelihood services for women and girls in targeted communities, foster positive social norms, and strengthen the government’s capacity to advance women and girls’ empowerment through a “whole community” approach targeting multiple actors and levels. The World Bank views this project as creating a platform for the empowerment of women where policy dialogue happens, evidence of what works is produced and disseminated, and partnerships are strengthened. The project is implemented by the Liberian Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MGCSP). Catholic Relief Services is a member of a consortium that has been awarded the contract to serve as Lead Service Provider for components 1,2 & 3 of this project under the supervision of the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the MGCSP. Catholic Relief Services is leading the implementation of component 3 of the project. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Driver to join our team in Grand Gedeh County. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting staff movement in project communities.

Job Summary:

You will assist CRS Liberia’s development programming field activities by supporting staff movement to and from the field in support of Catholic Relief Services (CRS) work to serve the poor and vulnerable. Your dedication to service and strong interpersonal skills will play a key role in driving projects that positively impact local communities. By consistently applying best practices and striving for continuous improvement, you will help enhance the effectiveness and reach of these initiatives.

Location: Field Based (Grand Gedeh covering Rivercess county)

Type of Role: Fixed-Term Contract

Reports to: Operations Officer

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Hold a valid local driver’s license and adhere to CRS Global and local vehicle management policies, including driving within established speed limits.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks, report issues to the Driver Mechanic, and ensure vehicles are equipped with necessary tools and equipment for minor repairs.
  • Operate CRS vehicles safely, following local laws and CRS policies, and restrict vehicle use to authorized CRS staff, visitors, partners, and guests.
  • Prohibit unknown riders, especially those carrying weapons or linked to conflicts, and ensure only approved individuals drive CRS vehicles.
  • Enforce seat belt use, refuse suspicious parcels, and yield the right-of-way to others while driving. Report drivers under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Verify vehicle readiness before trips, including fuel, oil, documents, tools, and safety equipment. Provide field location updates to staff.
  • Take regular breaks during long drives, assess parking safety, and notify the Operations Officer of any route deviations or security threats.
  • Assist in transporting materials, maintain accurate Vehicle Log Sheets, and support project activities, community mobilization, and capacity-building efforts.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience driving professionally; experience in mechanics desired.
  • Valid, current driving license with a clean driving record (no accidents)
  • Can pass physical and eye exam and possess verifiable references
  • Professional, courteous and punctual and willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Willing and able to work in a team environment
  • Good working knowledge of all major local road networks and city streets in Grand Gedeh and Rivercess counties.

Required Languages – English (Knowledge of Local dialect is an advantage)

Travel – 90%
