About PREVAIL:
PREVAIL, or the Partnership for Research on Vaccines and Infectious Diseases in Liberia, is a clinical research partnership between the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Liberian Ministry of Health.
Summary of Position:
The Electrical Consultant will coordinate all electrical works in the PREVAIL facilities in Liberia. This position will work closely with the management and facilities staff to ensure there is consistent and safe electrical power.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Description of Responsibilities:
Assembles, installs, tests and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus and fixtures using hand tools and hand power tools.
Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and corrects the problem.
Connects wires to circuit breakers, transformer, and other components.
Inspects electrical systems and equipment to identify hazard, defect, and the need for adjustment and repair, and to ensure compliances with codes.
Advises management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
Tests electrical system and continuity of circuit in electrical wiring, equipment and fixture, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of system
Uses a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters and test lamps. Install ground leads and connect power cable to equipment
Participates in process improvement activities
Enforces safety procedures and provides training to staff
Required to travel to all facilities, including but not limited to sites in New Kru Town, Monrovia and Kakata
Maintains a safe work environment
Reports to work on time and perform all daily functions
Follows standard operating procedures
May be requested to provide after-hours emergency response

Skills:
Exercises judgment within defined policies and procedures to determine appropriate action.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Graduate is a must; Diploma / Certificate in Machinery/ Electricity, or other related fields. Associate or Bachelor degree is an added advantage.
Preferred Job-related Experience: At least three (3) years of relevant experience
Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Good writing, reporting and communication skills, sound knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
