Employment Type:This is a four (4) year program. The initial contract is up to June 2025 with the possibility of extensions subject to performance and availability of funds.
Position Overview:
The Electrician will support the design, sourcing, installation, monitoring, maintenance, repair, and upkeep of electrical systems at Partners In Health Liberia (PIH) facilities and support facilities. Candidates should be familiar with electrical system requirements, setup, and performance including generators, transfer switches, and switchgear; understand load drop, overload, and load balancing; facilitate voltage changes on generators based on load requirements; re-wire, adjust and install control panels and voltage regulators.

To be successful in this role, electrical systems monitoring, performance, safety, and upkeep should be your top priority. Ideal candidates should be patient and have excellent organizational and troubleshooting skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific Responsibilities:

Support the design, sizing, sourcing, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of electrical systems; Identifying maintenance risks on electrical equipment/systems;

Diagnosing and rectifying electrical defects;

Performing emergency repairs promptly and efficiently;

Providing technical direction and on-the-job training;

Keeping daily logs and records of electrical maintenance activities including work order requests, spare parts utilization reports, costs, and updated Electrical assets log; Utilizing Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS);

Perform electrical assessments and compile detailed technical reports including sketches and photos;

Ensuring compliance with electrical standards and all Occupational Health and Safety requirements;

Complying with service standards, work instructions, and space requirements for electrical works;

Assisting with occupants’ queries;

 

Provides “on-call” emergency support when needed and responds to calls with a high degree of safety and operational reliability;

Ensures safe performance of jobs by following proper safety procedures, taking all necessary safety precautions, anticipating unsafe working conditions, acting accordingly to prevent accidents, and promptly reporting accidents and hazardous conditions; participates in and conducts appropriate safety training;

Processes work orders for Electrical system sourcing, installation, repair, and maintenance; schedules and supports all electrical work at the various facilities to meet program needs; as directed, liaise with various departments and partners to ensure coordination of workflow and uninterrupted service provision.

Develop and execute preventative maintenance procedures and schedules to ensure effective and reliable performance of all electrical systems/installations; perform preventative check ins and maintenance; initiate measures to reduce unplanned breakdowns and emergencies;

Compiling routine (weekly/monthly) detailed technical reports with recommendations to inform management decisions;

Strong organization and tracking skills that facilitate orders and replacement of materials and parts to maintain an adequate supply for future servicing and repairs.

Qualifications:

Required:

A minimum of an Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant equivalent; 3+ years’ experience as an Electrician, and willing to continue education in Electrical Engineering.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills;

Proficient in reading schematics, manuals, work plans, and other technical documentation; Flexibility to work after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays with short or no notice; Ability to work in confined spaces;

Preferred:

General knowledge of health facility/similar maintenance systems including Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Mechanical, plumbing, etc.;

Experience in a similar role with NGOs/INGOs;

Ability to communicate technical issues in non-technical terms for a non-technical audience; Strong analytical and organizational skills; ability to work independently and/or as part of a team;

Ability to work in a limited resource setting;
