Job Purpose: The Emergency Nutrition Coordinator will provide senior technical leadership for the nutrition emergency in Liberia. The role focuses on coordinating and positioning Concern’s emergency nutrition response, strengthening external coordination and advocacy, and supporting fundraising efforts to mobilise resources for life-saving nutrition interventions. This is a time-bound role designed to enhance strategic leadership, visibility, quality, and resourcing for emergency nutrition programming rather than direct day-to-day project management.

Key Responsibilities:

Emergency Nutrition Response Coordination & Strategy

  • Lead the development and coordination of Concern’s overall emergency nutrition response strategy, including scale-up plans based on emerging needs and assessments.
  • Provide senior technical leadership on acute malnutrition prevention and treatment, including CMAM/IMAM, MIYCN-E, and rapid nutrition

assessments.• Ensure alignment of emergency nutrition programming with national guidelines, global standards (Sphere, CHS), and Concern’s technical approaches.

  • Support field teams to maintain quality, coherence, and consistency across emergency nutrition interventions.

External Coordination, Representation & Influence

  • Represent Concern in Nutrition coordination meetings, working groups, and other emergency coordination fora at national and sub-national levels.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with government authorities, UN agencies, donors, and INGO partners.
  • Contribute actively to joint response planning, analysis, and coordination mechanisms to improve overall emergency nutrition outcomes.
  • Ensure consistency in Concern’s position as a credible and solutions-oriented lead actor in emergency nutrition.

Advocacy & Strategic Messaging

  • Lead the articulation of clear, evidence-based nutrition advocacy messages linked to the evolving crisis.
  • Support the development of advocacy briefs, key messages, talking points, and donor communications related to emergency nutrition.
  • Ensure that programme data, assessments, and learning are translated into compelling narratives that influence policy, funding, and response priorities.
  • Contribute to internal and external communications to raise the profile of nutrition needs and response gaps.

Fundraising & Proposal Development

  • Provide senior technical leadership and inputs for emergency nutrition proposals, concept notes, and donor discussions.
  • Work closely with the SMT, grants, and programme teams to support donor engagement and strategic fundraising efforts.
  • Contribute to the development of response logframes, budgets, and theory of change for emergency nutrition funding opportunities.
  • Support rapid adaptation of proposals and funding strategies as the context evolves.Internal Capacity, Quality & Learning
  • Mentor and technically support nutrition managers and emergency programme staff to strengthen delivery and coordination.
  • Promote adherence to Core Humanitarian Standards, safeguarding policies, and accountability commitments across emergency nutrition activities.
  • Support learning and reflection to inform response adaptation and future emergency preparedness.
  • Strengthen internal coordination between programmes, MEAL, operations, and senior management during the emergency response.

Experience & Qualification:

  • Advanced degree in nutrition, public health, or a related field.
  • Significant experience leading emergency nutrition responses in humanitarian or fragile contexts.
  • Strong technical expertise in acute malnutrition programming, including CMAM/IMAM and MIYCN-E.
  • Demonstrated experience with donor engagement, proposal development, and technical leadership for fundraising.
  • Proven ability to represent organisations effectively in coordination and advocacy fora.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and diplomatic skills.
  • Ability to work independently, strategically, and under pressure in rapidly changing contexts.

Desirable

  • Previous experience working within nutrition clusters or inter-agency coordination mechanisms.
  • Surge or rapid deployment experience in humanitarian emergencies.
  • Familiarity with West African or similar operating contexts.Competencies:
