Position Overview
The English Faculty Member is responsible for teaching courses in English language, literature, and composition. This role involves developing students’ critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills while fostering a passion for reading, writing, and cultural understanding.
Key Responsibilities
• Teaching & Instruction
o Deliver engaging lectures, seminars, and workshops in English language, literature, and writing.
o Design and implement lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards.
o Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and projects.
o Provide constructive feedback to support student growth.
• Curriculum Development
o Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and instructional resources.
o Integrate diverse texts and perspectives into the curriculum.
o Incorporate technology and innovative teaching methods.
• Research
o Conduct scholarly research in English studies, linguistics, or related fields.
o Present at academic conferences and contribute to departmental research initiatives.
• Student Support
o Advise and mentor students on academic and career goals.
o Support extracurricular activities such as literary clubs, writing workshops, or drama productions.
o Encourage inclusive and respectful classroom discussions.
• Service & Collaboration
o Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and institutional initiatives.
o Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines.
o Contribute to community outreach and engagement programs.
Qualifications
• Bachelor 0r Master’s. in English, Literature, Linguistics, or related field (depending on institution level).
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and communication.
• Strong knowledge of literary analysis, composition, and critical theory.
