VACANCY: Entrepreneur

Mineke Foundation – located in Gardnersville – is a non-profit entity established in 2014 by Tonia Dabwe to continue her parents’ work. We focus on Vocational Training & Entrepreneurship, mainly attracting women and youth. We also manage Damiefa School and a Community Resource Center with a mini library, computer lab, and various sporting activities for children.

Mineke Foundation has been providing vocational & business training programs since 2015. In 2020, we had to temporarily cease operations during the Covid-19 lockdown. We used that time to develop business plans to transition our vocational training school into social enterprises and received funding to do so. Currently, we are starting up 2 social enterprises.

A social enterprise is a commercial business that has uses its profits to support Mineke Foundation’s projects in the Dabwe Town community. We also want to use our social enterprises to create jobs, especially for former trainees who completed our vocational training.

We are seeking an Entrepreneur to manage the commercial aspects of our 2 Vocational Training Social Enterprises. This person will manage and execute the Social Enterprise business initiatives per Mineke Foundation policies and strategic objectives.

 

You and Mineke Foundation will be a good match if you:

Have an Entrepreneurial mindset: you know how to do business and you know how to identify or create (new) business opportunities in the market. You can create a strategy to get customers (whether individual, retail or wholesale), determine what products will do well, and then take the necessary action to make sure that we can deliver. You can determine profits and you can achieve the monthly sales targets that you have set. Because of you, the sales of the social enterprises will keep on growing.

– Have good organizational skills: you will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of our 2 social enterprises. This means that you can manage a small team to produce goods, provide services, and maintain high quality and consistent production. You can deliver on time and within budget.

– Are Proactive: you are not the kind of person who will sit and wait for somebody to tell you what to do. You are proactive and continuously looking for ways and opportunities to achieve our ambitions and move forward.

– Have financial knowledge: you can work with our Administrative and Finance Officers to create & update budgets for social enterprises. You are also able to manage a budget and maximize the use of any money made available to you.

– Are Accountable: you are willing and able to take on the responsibility and trust that MF will give you. You are also willing to give a full account of your actions and any financial decisions. This also means that you will monitor the development of the social enterprises and proactively take action to correct any problems.

– Is a Professional & collaborative: you have a professional and respectful attitude and are willing to work with your colleagues at MF to ensure that our various projects strengthen each other.

– Are Willing to learn: you are willing to work with our international expert volunteers and learn from them so that, together, we can take Mineke Foundation to higher levels.

– Have Good communication skills: you can communicate well in spoken and written English.

– Have basic Digital skills: you know how to use Word and Excel, the internet, email, and Whatsapp. You are willing to learn how to use the other digital tools that we use.
