Position Summary
We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced and motivated professionals for the key leadership role of Plant
Manager – Alluvial Gold Processing & Gold Room Operations for a new gold mining venture in Liberia. This is a unique
opportunity to be part of a dynamic start-up operation and play a pivotal role in shaping the success of a promising greenfield
gold project.
This position will manage and oversee the complete operations of an alluvial gold processing plant and gold room. The role
includes leading plant commissioning during start-up, achieving production and recovery targets, managing plant and gold room
personnel, enforcing stringent gold security protocols, and ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE)
standards.
Duties and Responsibilities / KPI’s
1. Plant Operations Management
1.1 Oversee daily operations of the alluvial gold processing plant.
1.2 Manage feed preparation and sizing processes, including screening and trommel operation.
1.3 Supervise gravity recovery systems such as sluices, jigs, and centrifugal concentrators.
1.4 Ensure proper tailings disposal and water recycling.
1.5 Optimize plant throughput (typically 50–200 TPH depending on capacity).
1.6 Adjust process parameters to maximize gold recovery and minimize losses.
2. Gold Room Oversight
2.1 Supervise concentrate handling and final gold recovery processes.
2.2 Oversee operation of shaking tables, drying, weighing, smelting, and Gold Doré pouring.
2.3 Ensure accurate documentation, chain of custody, and gold reconciliation.
2.4 Enforce gold room security protocols including access control, CCTV, and dual key systems.
3. Commissioning & Ramp-Up (If Applicable)
3.1 Lead the commissioning of gold processing and gold room equipment during the start-up phase.
3.2 Collaborate with OEMs and contractors to test, calibrate, and troubleshoot equipment.

3.3 Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs), preventive maintenance plans, and workflows.
3.4 Conduct initial technical and operational training for all plant and gold room personnel.
4. Production & Performance Monitoring
4.1 Monitor and report on key plant performance indicators (KPIs).
4.2 Track daily ore throughput, gold recovery rates, and gold output.
4.3 Monitor equipment downtime and availability.
4.4 Conduct regular inspections and process audits to identify and resolve inefficiencies.
5. Team Management & Training
5.1 Supervise plant operators, maintenance teams, and gold room staff.
5.2 Develop and implement training programs focused on safety, operational excellence, and gold security.
5.3 Promote local workforce development and succession planning.
6. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
6.1 Promote a zero-harm safety culture across all operational areas.
6.2 Ensure strict adherence to environmental regulations related to tailings, water discharge, and mercury-free operations.
6.3 Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and job hazard analyses (JHAs).
6.4 Participate in incident investigations and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
7. Security & Governance
7.1 Implement and enforce gold handling, tracking, and security protocols.
7.2 Maintain accurate and auditable production records, gold reconciliation data, and custody logs.
7.3 Coordinate with internal departments including site security, finance, and compliance.

Qualifications / Experience / Technical Knowledge
1. Academic Qualifications
 A recognized Degree or Diploma in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, or a related Engineering discipline.
2. Professional Experience

 A minimum of 5–10 years of progressive experience in alluvial gold processing and gold room operations.
 Proven leadership in remote or developing country operations, ideally in West Africa or comparable environments.
 Demonstrated experience in plant start-up, commissioning, and ramp-up activities.
 Proven ability to supervise multi-disciplinary teams, including local workforce development and succession
planning.
3. Technical Knowledge & Competencies
 Strong expertise in gravity separation technologies (sluices, jigs, centrifugal concentrators) and gold smelting
techniques.
 Comprehensive understanding of gold room procedures, including gold security, Doré pouring, and reconciliation
protocols.
 Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially regarding tailings management and
mercury-free operations.
 Proficiency in plant control and monitoring systems, along with experience in production and performance reporting.
 Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and technical reporting tools.
