Background

Hope for a Better Future is a 5-year USAID-funded locally led peacebuilding and capacity strengthening program designed to boost the resilience of individuals, their families and friends, and their communities (see KAITC Program Website1). To primarily support our program efforts in Nimba County, we are looking for a:

Field Data Manager

Description:

The Field Data Manager (FDM) is responsible for managing the data collection, data entry, secure data storage, and secure data transmission processes for all intervention research and community engagement data related to the Hope for a Better Future program (Hope) in Liberia. The Field Data Manager will also be responsible for providing technical support to the training team in Liberia, including working with the Kennesaw State University (KSU) Information Technology Support team based in the United States to install software and resolve technical issues as needed.

Location:

The Hope Program will be conducted in several towns in Nimba, Grand Gedeh and Maryland Counties. The Field Data Manager will be based in Ganta, Nimba County.

Responsibilities:

Support the Hope trainers in their daily data collection, entry, storage, and upload of intervention data and community engagement data, and other information as required by the program.

Serve as field liaison to the Information Technology (IT) department based in the United States to download Qualtrics data collection software, assist with the installation and frequent updates of Qualtrics software, and be proactive in resolving technical issues.

Provide initial training on how to use Qualtrics to new trainers using existing tutorials. Update and create relevant tutorials in collaboration with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Lead based in the United States.

Serve as field liaison between the MEL Lead based in the United States and the Lead Trainers based in Liberia to track Trainer data collection and entry progress, ensure data is collected and entered accurately and completely, and is uploaded to the Qualtrics software application on the KSU computer network correctly and on schedule.

Serve as field liaison between the MEL Lead and the Lead Trainers to resolve data accuracy issues (correct data errors, re-scan forms, upload data, etc.).

Help the Hope trainers to anticipate and solve problems related to collecting, entering, storing and uploading data to the KSU network server.

Assist in the purchasing decisions of technical equipment and the installation of software required to perform research data entry and upload to the KSU network server. Assist in resolving technical issues related to the data collection software and related technology.

Perform data entry and data upload of research data when a backlog of collected data exists and data entry has been delayed.

Scan paper forms used to collect research data and ensure the scans are correct and readable or work with the Hope Trainers to ensure they scan the paper forms correctly and the data is readable.

Confirm with the MEL Lead based in the United States that data entered and uploaded to Qualtrics, as well as scanned data, is complete and readable.

Responsible for ensuring research data in paper form is safely and securely stored until the end of the required retention period. At the end of the retention period, the FDM will be responsible for ensuring the paper forms are destroyed.

Responsible for ensuring the security and confidentiality of all sensitive data as required by the program.

Perform other data related duties as needed and assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications. Experience with data entry software; experience with Qualtrics is a plus. Experience with virtual meeting software; experience with Zoom is a plus. 2 years of experience performing information technology customer support. 3 years of research data management experience in a field context.

Expectations:

Agree to Adhere to and be in full compliance with NCJPC Children and Vulnerable Adults Safeguarding Policy on Sexual harassment, exploitation, and abuse, including money laundering and human trafficking.

Agree to sign the declaration form on Safeguarding.

Ability to work, adapt to local situations and solve problems independently. Ability to work well in and with teams in person and virtually.

Ability to describe the Program and its activities.

Ability to travel (paid for), work and live most of the time in Nimba County, with some time in Grand Gedeh and Maryland Counties, as needed.

Salary:

Full-time Field Data Manager hired through NCJPC. Salary is up to US-$800.00 per month, commensurate with experience. We anticipate an initial probationary period of 6 months.
