With funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Liberia, Serving Humanity for Empowerment and Development (SHED) and BASA Development Initiatives (BDI) are jointly implementing a 36-month project titled “Advancing Youth Economic Inclusion through Skills Training and Green Jobs in Liberia.” SHED serves as the lead implementing organization. The project aims to advance the economic inclusion and resilience of young people, particularly young women, in Bong, Margibi, Grand Cape Mount, and Nimba Counties by equipping them with market-relevant green skills and creating pathways to decent employment, sustainable entrepreneurship, and climate-resilient livelihoods.

SHED is a Liberian organization established as a national office following FCA’s ten (10) years of work in Liberia. 1. JOB/POSITION DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Officer – Youth Skills and Entrepreneurship will lead implementation of market-relevant green skills training, apprenticeships, job placement, entrepreneurship development, mentorship, and market-linkage activities. The position will establish relationships with training providers, employers, businesses, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to improve young people’s transition from training to employment and sustainable self-employment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct labour-market and employer assessments to identify demand for green skills.
• Support development and/or adaptation of market-relevant and accredited green skills training courses.
• Establish partnerships with vocational training institutions, employers, private-sector companies, and accreditation bodies.
• Mobilize and support youth to participate in green skills training.
• Facilitate practical and competency-based training and workplace readiness activities.
• Develop and coordinate apprenticeship and internship opportunities.
• Identify employers and job opportunities for trained youth.
• Support youth with CV preparation, interview skills, job-search strategies, and workplace readiness.
• Facilitate job placement and conduct post-placement follow-up.
• Establish and maintain an employer and employment opportunities database.
• Identify youth with viable green business ideas and support business development.
• Provide training and mentoring on business planning, financial literacy, costing, pricing, record keeping, and market analysis.
• Support establishment and strengthening of 150 youth-led GEIs in agribusiness, recycling, renewable energy, and value addition.
• Facilitate access to mentorship, seed inputs, business development services, finance, and markets.
• Link youth enterprises with buyers, suppliers, financial institutions, investors, and other market actors.
• Organize business networking events, trade fairs, exhibitions, and market-linkage activities.
• Work with the GEDSI Officer to address barriers affecting young women and marginalized youth.
• Track employment, enterprise establishment, business performance, and other relevant outcomes.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Economics, Development Studies, Human Resource Management, Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
• Additional training in entrepreneurship, vocational education, career development, employment services, or business development is an advantage.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in youth employment, entrepreneurship development, vocational skills development, livelihoods, business development, or related programming.
• Demonstrated experience developing employer and market linkages.
• Experience supporting apprenticeships, internships, job placement, or career development.
• Experience supporting youth-led businesses or micro/small enterprises.
• Experience working with vocational training institutions and private-sector employers is desirable.
• Experience implementing donor-funded youth empowerment or employment programmes is an advantage.
