Location: Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County
Job Purpose
Finance & Admin Officer (FO) is a position that is in general responsible for assuring administrational functioning and financial compliance of our Grand Gedeh Sub-office, and mainly to support the Finance & Administrative Manager (FAM) in the financial monitoring and capacity development of implementing partners.
Line Management
The Finance Officer reports to the FAM at the Liberia Country office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under guidelines and direct supervision of FAM, the incumbent shall perform the following scope of work:
- Assets Management at the Sub-office
- Office management and administration (organization of circulation, filing and archiving of administrative, accounting, and financial documents).
- Creating and maintaining reference files/records (electronic and paper) and filing of documents related to the above processes.
- Reviewing payment vouchers, settlement of staff advances and all financial documents before submission to the Country Office
- Assist in the follow up on grants disbursed to implementing partners to ensure proper financial management and donor compliance
- Provide capacity development support to implementing partners.
- Backstopping other Finance Unit staff during periods of absence or involvement in periods of project implementation.
- ensure compliance and support procurement activities at the sub office
Qualifications
▪ Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance and/or economics/business administration.
Experience
- 3 years’ experience performing accounting or administrative tasks. • Experience in using standard PC software packages including word processor,
financial programs, and email packages(outlook). Experience with QuickBooks, other
- Good knowledge about financial management practices will be an advantage. • Proven experience working with implementing partners/sub grantees • Experience with Sida and EU grant is an advantage
Skills
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly numerate.
- Ability to plan own work, set priorities and complete it under pressure. • Ability to work effectively as part of a multicultural, international team. • Fluency in English and one or more Liberian indigenous languages Knowledge
- Sound knowledge and understanding of general administration principles and practices.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and working practices.
- Sound knowledge and understanding of budget management and control principles and working practices.
- Sound knowledge working with spread sheets (Excel)
Desirable
- Experience of working in the non-profit/NGO sector, preferably a Scandinavian organization
