The Finance and Controlling Manager is the head of the Finance and Controlling Department. She/he is responsible for all financial matters of the Association. S/he is responsible for strengthening internal control mechanisms and enforcing existing financial systems by ensuring compliance with and implementation of financial standards of the Association. The incumbent is also responsible for updating and generating timely financial information for senior management and other levels. The Finance and Controlling Manager will ensure smooth budget planning and monitoring processed, auditing exercises, timely execution of Financial related activities due for international offices and secure financial support field offices, main clients and other partners.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimun of a BSc/BA Degree in Accounting with emphaisis in Financial Management or relevant field; Master Degree or other professional certification in Financial Management or other areas of relevance is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years‘ experience managing financial management projects; with proven track record of 3 – 5 years‘ experience in a Finance or Accounting environment.
  • Good leadership and management skills.
  • Willingness to continuous improve financial processes and control.
  • Highly organised with commitment to working overtime and meeting deadlines when absolutely necessary.
  • Detailed-oriented and Results focused.
  • Strong analytical skills and independent /self-motivated mind.
  • Operationally astute.
  • Willingness to make tough financial decisions and advice the National Director on all expenditures
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, communication and negotiation skills necessary to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of regional financial best practices in implementing budget rules and managing a team of professionals and/or specialist is an added advantage.
  • Strong ability in using MS Office (MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, in particular)
  • Outstanding teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent facilitation and training skills
  • Good idea of budgeting and financial management skills
  • A good team player with the ability to exercise patience, respect and flexibility for team members
  • Ability to communicate in oral and written French
  • Ability to take risks and manage them well
  • Ability to exercise authority where and when required
  • Ability to work under pressure and produce results
  • Operationally astute
  • Increasingly find ways to introduce new strategies to improve on the deliverables
  • Ability to delegate authority and develop a team
