Democracy International (DI) is seeking aFinance Officerto provide operational support to the multi-year Liberia Elections And Democracy (LEAD) Activity. This is a full-time position to be based in Monrovia, Liberia.
The purpose of this new USAID/Liberia project is to support the deepening of democracy in Liberia so that elected representatives can increasingly govern in the interest of their constituents. To do so, LEAD will build the skills of future leaders to run for office and work on campaigns, support the institutionalization of civic education, and build the capacity of the election commission and civil society to manage electoral cycles.
The position would be contingent upon project award to DI.
Responsibilities:
Manage finances, accounting, and procurement processes, and related reporting;
Maintain and reconcile in-country bank accounts, make payments and track expenses, prepare tax reporting, maintain payroll and issue payments, oversee procurement processes, and otherwise manage all of DI’s financial procedures in Liberia;
Develop policies and procedures as needed, during project startup and throughout project duration;
Produce bi-weekly finance expense reports to submit to the DI home office; and
Work with supervisors to ensure program compliance with relevant legal frameworks, USAID regulations, and mission orders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, management, or other relevant field;
Minimum of three years of finance and/or accounting experience;
Experience with USAID programming preferred;
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple demands, prioritize, and produce high-quality work under pressure;
Commitment to accuracy, honesty, and integrity in all tasks, as well as attention to detail and follow-up, are essential;
Demonstrated experience of successful teamwork and good communication and interpersonal skills;
Liberian citizenship required; and
Professional fluency in English and working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools required.
