With funding from the German Cooperation Deutsche Zusammenarbeit (BMZ) and the Welthungerhilfe (WHH), Serving Humanity for Empowerment and Development (SHED), formerly Finn Church Aid (FCA) is seeking qualified Liberians to occupy the vacant positions in her upcoming food security project “Increasing Production and Consumption of Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potatoes as part of the system Strengthening Approached in Liberia” conforming to the job descriptions below of the various positions. The project is geared toward providing improved economic and nutritional livelihoods through localized, commercial Orange-Fleshed Sweet Potatoes (OFSP) and vegetables productions for women, adolescents and the elderly in rural communities in Montserrado, Bong, Grand Bassa and Margibi Counties. The requested vacancies are full time positions that will provide relevant support to the implementation of the project, ensuring that the project meets its objective outlined below:

 

About SHED

SHED, formerly Finn Church Aid is a Liberian organization established as a national office following FCA’s ten (10) years of work in Liberia. We are a right based organization working in four thematic areas: right livelihoods, right peace, right quality education, and Watsan. Our head office is located Rehab Junction, Opposite Calvary Chapel School. SHED’s action is guided by international human rights standards and principles.   • JOB/POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title:Finance Officer
Supervisor/Reports to:Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY:

On a day-to-day basis, the Finance Officer carries out a variety of accounting functions required to ensure the financial needs of the programme are met and that all financial transactions are carried out and recorded with integrity and in accordance with SHED and donor guidelines. She/he should be familiar with audits, invoices and budget preparations, including bank reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partake in the preparation of bank vouchers on a daily basis and monthly financial reports for the project;
  • Assist in the preparation of staff payroll;
  • Participate in the preparation of donors’ financial reports;
  • Maintain stock cards and conduct inventory for all stationeries in stock on a monthly basis;
  • Conduct semi-annual inventory count of institution assets;
  • File all posted bank vouchers;
  • Prepare and maintain staff time sheet on a monthly basis;
  • Assists with audit preparation, auditor reviews and implementation of recommendations as directed;
  • Performs other duties as requires by SHED Management.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE/ CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor degree in Finance /Accounting with an added advantage in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • At least 5 years of experience working in accounting and/or finance and working with INGO/NGO;
  • A strong sense of ethics and honesty with attention to detail is mandatory;
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to keep absolute confidentiality is required.
