For GIZ Project – Strengthening ecological connectivity in the Tai-Grebo-Krahn-Sapo forest complex (GIZ/TGS) Côte d’Ivoire and Liberia we seek applications from suitable national candidates for

Position: Finance Specialist

Location: Zwedru

Contract Period: One year (with the possibility of an extension)

 

Purpose of the post

The Finance Specialist is responsible for finance, administrative and/or ancillary functions required by and in support of the operations and functions of the GIZ Project.

She/he reports to the Project Manager.

 

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Processing transactions including but not limited to: management of receipts and payments, coordination of procurement services, verification of purchase orders, invoicing, and related project activities;
  • Ensuring that daily financial matters are handled in a systematic, accurate and transparent manner;
  • Ensuring implementation of operational strategies focusing on achievement of full compliance of financial activities, financial recording/documentation/reporting system and audit follow up with GIZ rules, regulations, policies and strategies;
  • Interpreting and updating staff of the changes in the rules and regulations, guidelines and policies as well as GIZ HQ and GIZ Country Office instructions;
  • Synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices in Finance;
  • Contributing to knowledge networks and communities of practice and encouraging staff to participate;
  • Elaboration and implementation of cost saving and reduction strategies;
  • Follow up on deadlines, commitments made, actions taken and coordination of collection and submission of the reports to GIZ and/or other donors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

 

Professional experience

  • at least 5 years professional experience in a comparable position
  • at least 2 years professional experience with donor funded projects will be considered as an advantage

 

Other knowledge, additional competences

  • good working knowledge of MS Office application (Word, Excel), email and internet;
  • strong written and verbal communication skills in English, knowledge of French and/or German will be considered as an advantage
