Summary of Position:
The Generator Technician will be responsible for managing all repairs and routine preventive maintenance of the PREVAIL Generators/equipment. The position will be expected to diagnose, repair, and report any operational issues identified during routine operations and testing of the generators. S/he will perform voltage testing on generators based on power surge and consumption requirements. S/he will re-wire, adjust and install control panels and voltage regulators, and will adjust speed controls and various operational settings as required.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Description of Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repairs minor problems with generators, transfer switches, switchgear, and other minor mechanical and electrical equipment.
In the absence of the service provider, performs routine preventive maintenance tasks such as lubrication and load testing.
Tests systems for efficiency and output and ensures the generators are producing the required power or load.
Fully participates in installation of new generators and other power generation systems.
Monitors gauges and meters to ensure that the generators are operating efficiently.
Performs routine maintenance checks and services on generators, such as oil changes and filter replacements.
Troubleshoots problems with electrical or mechanical equipment to identify the source of the issue.
Monitors fuel consumption and orders additional fuel as needed based on fuel consumption logs and reports.
Conducts daily fuel dipping to determine the generators fuel consumption levels.
Assists in preparing generators for installation as needed.
Responsible for the safe and proper operation of the Generators/equipment, using local automatic/manual modes of operation.

Maintains power-plant operating log and prepares power generation and transmission equipment operating reports.
Prepares equipment malfunction reports, makes inspections and from observation, determines whether equipment is operating properly.
Keeps track of weekly or monthly generators service logs.
Inspects all generators service parts before and after service and makes sure that the right parts are replaced.
Assists with other duties as required.
Skills:
Exceptional communication skills to work with team and customers directly on occasion.
Ability to write weekly updates and monthly reports on generator operations and fuel consumption and weekly or monthly generator service.
Must have computer skills in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and be able to transfer information from the logbook to the electronic.
Leadership Competencies:
Able to work within a team of three or more staff and good team player.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Graduate is a must; Diploma / Certificate from a recognized Technical Vocational and Training (TVET) Institute in Machinery/ Electricity, or other related fields. Associate degree is an added advantage.
In-depth understanding of diesel engine and/or generator technology.
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues on diesel generator.
Proficient with estimating time required to complete tasks.
Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years of proven experience working as generator technician in managing power generators.
