The Planned Parenthood Association of Liberia (PPAL) is a voluntary, not for profit and equal opportunity organisation that undertakes advocacy and service delivery in Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Liberia. PPAL is a Member Association (MA) of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). PPAL is seeking qualified persons for the following positions.

Job purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the holder of the position is responsible for functions relating to organizational development, resource mobilization, Governance and management of volunteers at all levels, in compliance with IPPF operations guidelines and standards, coordinating the inputs of volunteers to organisational transformation, growth, development and effectiveness as well as supporting all efforts at mobilizing additional resources

  • Key responsibilities
    • Planning, organising, implementing and coordinating all activities relating to recruitment and effective management of PPAL Governance body and Volunteers, documenting processes and outcomes including the implementation of relevant volunteer policies and guidelines;
    • Providing support to the Executive Director in arranging and servicing all meetings of the Governance body including the National Executive Committee and General Assembly, and dissemination of proceedings in a timely manner;
    • Producing and disseminating approved periodic updates to NEC and Branch Chairpersons in between meetings to keep them abreast of developments in PPAL;
    • Coordinating the provision of management, administrative and logistics support to the planning, preparation and conduct of meetings of NEC and General Assembly including production, packaging and delivery of relevant documents for statutory and unscheduled meetings;
    • Supporting the Executive Director to facilitate the inputs of members of National Executive Committee into program development and management process as defined in IPPF Governance operating guidelines
    • Providing support to Governance reform process including implementing agreed reform actions
    • Leading the recruitment and establishment of new volunteers using innovative strategies including provision of orientation and training as may be required;
    • Implementing established mechanisms for enhancing the contributions and commitment of volunteers to the operations, growth and development of PPAL;
    • Supporting the ED in undertaking organisation’s strategic review and planning process, leading to the development of periodic strategy document and its implementation;
    • Supporting the implementation of PPAL’s corporate resource mobilization strategy for organizational sustainability including fund raising, conceptualisation and development of new businesses and marketing of PPAL capability and services
  • Academic qualifications and other requirements
  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Management, Governance, political Science, International Relations, Strategic Management, and Business Management.
  2. Work Experience: 3/4yrs relevance experience in same or similar position especially in an NGO setting
  3. Use of computer: Computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheets (MS Excel), and Power Point and use of internet for research and educational (training) purposes
  4. Skills: organizing, people management, decision making, communication (oral and written), interpersonal, Planning and coordination, Advocacy and lobbying skills, Facilitation, Public speaking and presentation skills
  5. Others – Average knowledge of SRHR issues, positive attitude and disposition towards family planning especially as it relates to young people, strong belief and commitment to gender equality, zero tolerance for all forms of abuse and violence against women, children, girls and fellow workers, selfmotivated and able to work independently and collaboratively, very pro-active, able to operate with minimal supervision and high energy level
