Background:

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) began operations in Liberia in 1957, establishing a permanent country office in 1990 to provide emergency relief and implement sustainable development programs addressing poverty and social injustice. CRS employs a holistic human development approach, working closely with the Government of Liberia and the Catholic Church’s social service agencies to foster community-based development.

Current programming encompasses maternal and child health, water and sanitation access, agricultural development for food security, peacebuilding, youth livelihoods, and financial inclusion through Savings and Internal Lending Communities (SILC).

About GROWN Project:

In October 2025, CRS Liberia secured funding through Discretionary Private Funds to implement a 12-month integrated, nutrition-sensitive agriculture and microfinance project in Montserrado and Margibi counties. The Gardens for Resilience, Opportunities, Wealth, and Nutrition (GRWON) Project aims to strengthen community resilience and improve household nutrition by empowering women, youth, and vulnerable populations through climate-smart agriculture, nutrition-sensitive livelihoods, and inclusive financial systems. The project is currently in its start-up phase, with stakeholder engagement and staff recruitment underway.

Objectives:

This service contract seeks to recruit two Field Facilitators for an 8-month term. The Field Facilitators will be responsible for field-level implementation of project activities and community engagement.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the mobilization and formation of target groups, including women farmers, youth, persons with disabilities, and school communities.
  • Build trust and maintain strong relationships with community leaders and participants.
  • Support in facilitating training sessions on climate-smart agriculture practices, nutrition-sensitive activities, and WASH practices, SILC (Savings and Internal Lending Communities) methodology, and Gender Transformative Activities (GTA), including SILC+GTA sessions and engaging male champions.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of farmer field schools and demonstration plots, school gardens and related learning activities, and Community and group gardens.
  • Support implementation of GROWN field activities, serving as a liaison between CRS, communities, and local stakeholders.
  • Ensure community feedback mechanisms are functional, and community concerns are documented and communicated to the Project Officer, the MEAL team, and/or the Sr. Gender and Protection Officer.
  • Monitor project progress, identify challenges, and recommend adjustments to implementation plans.
  • Mainstream gender and social inclusion in all project activities to ensure we Do No Harm.
  • Ensure accountability through data collection, reporting, and community engagement.
  • Perform any other duty assigned to her/him in alignment with the project goals and objectives.

Deliverable:

The Field Facilitator will be responsible for the following:

  • Compile and submit weekly updates & monthly progress reports of project activities to CRS using the project-established reporting template.
  • Submit a detailed work plan with a timeline capturing all work to be done between December 2025 – September 2026.
  • Submit a work timesheet at the end of each month
  • Submit records of participation in meetings through meeting minutes and attendance records.
  • Conduct training on Climate Smart Agriculture practices, SILC, GTA and provide nutritional messaging to communities and schools
  • Documentation of involvement in surveys, assessments, and training.
  • Weekly uploads of GTA and SILC session attendance and documentation on CommCare and Google Form

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent in social Science, Agriculture, or Health
  • At least 2 years of experience in community mobilization and working with Government stakeholders at the local level
  • Able to communicate effectively and write legibly [clearly and concisely].
  • Experience with a local, international NGO or working with decentralized, community-based projects is a plus
  • Experience in project monitoring and reporting writing
  • Experience in training facilitation
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft packages (Excel, Word, ETC.)
  • Experience in VSLA or SILC group supervision

Timeline

The service contract will run from March 01, 2026, to October 30, 2026, with activities implemented in Montserrado and Margibi Counties.

Work relationship:

Internal CRS: Head of Programming, MEAL Lead, Program Manager, and Project Officer.

External: Ministry of Agriculture County Staff, Ministry of Education County Staff, Ministry of Health Nutrition Division County Staff, Local NGOs and CBOs, and Community leaders.
