Health and Nutrition Field Officer (3 positions – 2 Montserrado, 1 Margibi)

Assignment:

Responsible for the establishment, revitalization, maintenance and running of community based groups (Mothers, Fathers, Youth, Adolescent, ect.), capacity building for community dwellers and community health workers to promote behaviour change for improved nutrition, health, WASH and care practices at the household.

Means:

General means: paper based

Diploma / Level of studies:

Licensed: Physician Assistant, Nurse, Midwife and or experienced community health worker with at least 4 years’ experienced working closely with community authorities, dwellers and health authorities especially in rural, hard to reach communities.

Required skills:

· Experienced in conducting training for community members, monitoring and supervising activities in communities

· Experienced in building capacity of others for sustainability

· Good knowledge of preventive health, Maternal Infant Young Child Nutrition messages, care practices, and counselling

· Ability to work autonomously

· Diplomacy and patience, especially for community dwellers, Community Health Assistants/ Volunteers (CHA, gCHVs and TTMs)

· High level of English (spoken and written), strong report writing ability

· Knowledge of local languages is an asset

· Flexibility for field work as the job requires overnight stay and travel to ‘hard to reach’ rural communities in the county

· Rigor at work, high motivation

· Ability to ride motorbike

Objective 1:

To promote behavior change among community dwellers for improved health, nutrition, WASH and care practices at the level of the house hold for the targeted population in close collaboration with community health workers and authorities (TTM, CHA, CHP, etc).

Activities:

· Support the establishment and maintenance of Mothers, Fathers, Youth, Adolescent Support Groups

· Provide capacity building trainings for participants of groups and

· Conduct routine supervision and monitoring of all activities with in the groups and provide on job coaching based on identified gaps and lapses for participants

· Participate in planning and conducting meetings among communities members, participants of established groups

· Work in close collaboration with community leadership, community health workers (TTM, CHA, CHP) and health facilities staff to strengthen linkages, coordination and collaboration between targeted health facilities and community members

· Liaise with other project teams (LAPS, Action Against Hunger, etc) and coordinate activities as necessary

Objective 2:

To provide timely information on the progress of activities implemented

Activities:

· Provide weekly updates and monthly reports of all activities conducted to the PM

· Identify possible problems and propose recommendations for solution in a timely manner

· Contribute to the monthly activity progress report writing
