Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) Project in Liberia overall objective: With funding support from the Federal Republic of Germany through the German Development Bank (KfW), Welthungerhilfe is implementing the Health Systems Organization profile and background: Strengthening (HSS) Project in Liberia on behalf of the Government of Liberia, and in collaboration with MoFDP, MoPW and MoH. It is within the scope of the programme to construct, rehabilitate and or upgrade Eight (8) health facilities (Clinics, Health Centers and County Hospital) in the four project target counties of Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Sinoe and Grand Kru. The objective of construction, rehabilitation and or upgrading of the health facilities is to improve the structures of the prioritized and selected health facilities, thus contributing to the project overall objective of ensuring that access and utilization of quality health care facilities has improved for the population living in the four target counties of the South-East Region of Liberia. The constructions and rehabilitations will require services of a competent Heavy Duty Co-Driver. The aims of the position are to ensure the smooth functioning, maintenance, and repair of the vehicle. Objective of the Duties with own area of responsibility: Position: • Clean vehicles (inside/outside) on a regular basis • (Re) fuel vehicles |
• Check oil, water, brakes and clutch fluids on a daily basis; tyre pressures, battery water, and overall vehicle condition on a monthly basis or after 5,000km whichever comes earlier; test lights, brakes, bodywork for dents, etc. • Report suspected mechanical problems, if possible before actual problems arise • Immediately report any involvement of the project/office vehicle in any, even minor accidents, or any damage or theft of equipment from the vehicle • Keep the vehicle’s document (logbook) up to date • Keep vehicles and car tools in a good technical condition and make small repairs • Tend first-aid kits in all vehicles • Timely report necessary repairs or other need for maintenance |

The Heavy-Duty Co-Driver will have the listed below specific responsibilities: VEHICLE OPERATION: • Assist the Driver in ensuring the security of passengers and goods in the truck, driving carefully, • observing speed limits and traffic rules in the country as well as Welthungerhilfe security rules, in order to avoid car accidents. • Support the Driver to ensure correct loading and unloading of the truck, submitting the documents to the receiver of the goods, checking the status of delivered goods, returning the duly completed documents to Logistics and ensuring the goods have the necessary documents. • Assist the Driver to ensure that all vehicle documents are valid and in the vehicle. • Report any issues arising from delivery or problems with a deadline to the Duties and Driver or senior staff member and help resolve the problem if possible. Responsibilities: • Work with the Driver to ensure that all truck daily movement are logged in and logged out in the logbook and make sure it is completely kept in the vehicle. • Assist the Driver in documenting during handing over processes. • Knowing how to use all types of radio codes, call numbers and radio alphabets by heart and communicating with base according to Welthungerhilfe communication policy to inform the driver’s position and potential implications. • Knowing and respecting the security rules relating to vehicle. Have a working knowledge of how to operate and safely drive the assigned vehicle. • Ensure truck or trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to the tractor unit • Pick-up loads and organizes goods in an ordered, logical manner in line with your supervisor |

• In line with your supervisor, ensure that any fuel intake is clearly recorded, the fuel receipt is immediately given to the fleet officer for proper filing. • Support tracking of all movement, fuel and spare parts received for assigned vehicle. • All staff working at WHH are representatives of the organization and are therefore required to conduct her/himself in a respectful and professional manner in accordance with the WHH Code of Conduct. A minimum of 2 to 3 years of professional experience in being a Co-Driver preferable working with INGO/NGO with specific experience in construction of varied structures Professional (health care infrastructures, roads, culverts, drainages, bridges, markets, wells, Experience latrines etc). |
