Development (BMZ). However, GIZ also operates on behalf of other German ministries and public and
private bodies in Germany and abroad.

GIZ was active in Liberia from 1974 until the outbreak of civil war in 1989. In 2010, GIZ reopened a
regional office for Sierra Leone and Liberia in Monrovia, and is supporting sustainable economic
development through various projects.
On behalf of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, GIZ supports
the Government of Liberia in the health sector through a project focusing on the improvement of
surveillance and response system for diseases, especially those with epidemic potential in the partner
counties in south east Liberia.
For GIZ Health Project – Health System Strengthening and Epidemic Prevention (HSSEP)
project we seek applications from suitable national candidates for
Position: Housekeeper
Location: Harper
Contract Period: Subject to agreement of the commissioner, this post is available up to August 2021
with an option of extension.
Responsibilities
The housekeeper reports to the Head of Administration and Finance. The housekeeper is responsible for
▪ keeping the health project office premises clean and tidy
▪ providing support to workshops and other events
▪ managing guesthouse
▪ running errands and carrying out other tasks needed to run the office smoothly
Tasks
1. Office and guesthouse services
▪ cleans the office & guesthouse premises, rooms, furniture, carpets and windows
▪ checks and refills supplies in all areas, including offices, kitchen and washrooms / WCs
▪ sets up and prepares the conference rooms as instructed
▪ supplies the offices & guesthouse with hot and cold beverages and other catering services
▪ controlling guesthouse log
▪ ensures the kitchen ware is kept clean and in good condition and reports any needs for additional
kitchen wars
▪ reports if stocks, e.g. of beverages and cleaning materials are low, and need to be replaced
2. Support to Workshop and meetings
▪ provides services at in-house meetings, e.g. serves coffee and tea for guests and visitors
▪ supports catering and logistics at workshops and other meetings both in-house and at external
locations
3. Office communication and administration
▪ makes photocopies and scans documents as needed
▪ checks office supplies and restocks office materials, e.g. ensuring that printers/photocopiers are
operational by filling with paper, toner cartridges etc.
▪ carries out minor repairs as required to keep office equipment operational.
▪ supports office or project logistics, e.g. takes letters to the post office or hands them to courier
services
▪ deputises the receptionist during absences including welcoming visitors and responding to
incoming queries, support to document and invoice processing, office supply management,
coordination of drivers, support to procurement
4. General tasks
▪ runs errands, e.g. buys lunch on request for office staff if and when required
▪ reports damage to office areas and equipment, and organises and monitors maintenance and
repair
Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
▪ primary school education
Professional experience
▪ at least 1-3 years’ work experience in a comparable position with references
Other knowledge, additional competences
▪ good spoken English and basic written English
▪ sensitivity in handling and disposing of documents which may be important
▪ reliability and good organisational skills, appropriate appearance and clothing
Note: The post will be based in Harper. The Project director and most of the team working for HSSEP are
based in Monrovia. Team members/project director will undertake frequent travels to Harper and the south
east of Liberia. There is a project office in Harper that will be used by the candidate we are herewith looking
