Who we Are

medica Liberia (mL) formerly medica mondiale Liberia is a non-governmental women’s rights organization working in Liberia. Our organization offers support to women and girls affected by sexual gender-based violence (SGBV) and is involved with programming on women’s agency and leadership. Since 2006, medica Liberia has been implementing programs for women and girls in Liberia’s South-eastern parts and recently extended its coverage to Montserrado and Margibi Counties respectively, through funding from the German Government and other donors. The organisation’s vision is a just and violence-free society in which women and girls live in dignity. As a feminist organisation, mL advocates for the rights of Liberian women and girls and the end of S/GBV at all levels of society and politics.

Rising Youth Mentorship Initiative (RYMI)

Rising Youth Mentorship Initiative (RYMI) is a non-profit community-based initiative established in 2013 to mentor young girls and women with the aim of grooming emerging leaders. Primarily, RYMI work to increase adolescent’s access to Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) information and resources. Secondarily, RYMI work to improve access to educational opportunities and the acquisition of livelihood and life skills.

mL and RYMI are partner organizations for the regional project titled, ‘Concerted action for zero tolerance against S/GBV in the Mano River Region’ funded by Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with support from medica mondiale. The project is implemented in Sierra Leone and Liberia by six (6) non-governmental organizations.

In this regards, mL and RYMI are looking to hire a qualified individual or firm for the below position:

  1. Position Description:

Position Title: Human Resource Consultant

Duty Station: Monrovia

Duration: Short-term Consultancy (one month)

  1. Background

The project aims to integrate the rights, needs, and perspectives of women and girls affected by sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) into societal, institutional, and political efforts for prevention and response at national and regional levels. This involves reducing tolerance for SGBV and enhancing survivor-centered support. One of its main outcomes is to empower a network of feminist civil society actors to continue their advocacy beyond the project’s duration. This empowerment involves strengthening organizational capacities through organizational development, learning, networking, and advocacy. Therefore, the project supported the development of organizational development plans which identified the need for revising and/or developing partner organizations’ Human Resource policies.

  1. Scope of Consultancy:

The Human Resource Consultant will closely collaborate with the Human Resource Department of medica Liberia and relevant staff of RYMI to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Conduct a desk review of the existing Human Resources Policies and Procedures manual and/or practices, assessing its applicability, scope, relevance, and adequacy to organizational strategies and feminist principles.
  • Consult with relevant staff to gather input and feedback on the current Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Propose amendments, updates, and improvements based on the desk review and interviews
  • Update the Human Resources policies and procedures manual for medica Liberia and develop a new manual for RYMI incorporating recommendations.
  • Host a validation workshop to present the final product to stakeholders for feedback and approval.
  • Ensure that the updated and new manuals reflect feminist principles and are aligned with the organizational strategies of medica Liberia and RYMI.

  • Development of inception Report
  • Submission of the desk review and interviews report
  • Submission of Draft policy
  • Conduct Validation Workshop
  • Submission of Final Draft
  1. Desired Skills and Competencies:

The successful candidate should possess a combination of skills and competencies tailored to the specific objectives and responsibilities outlined above and as follows:

  • Demonstrated experience in nonprofit leadership, organizational development, and feminist leadership.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing inclusive recruitment processes and capacity-building initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of gender equality issues, feminist theory, and intersectional approaches to social change.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
