Role purpose:

To work in collaboration with senior leaders, stakeholders and your People team colleagues to shape, develop and deliver our people strategy in line with the needs of our global movement within a matrix structure. Operating as a resilient HR professional you will apply your knowledge, strong communication and influencing skills to provide a high-level HR support across your directorates. An emphasis of the role is to ensure robust systems, processes and controls are in place and adhered to. This is a key position in ensuring Mary’s Meals’ vision, mission and values are central to organisational decision making and people management.

Key responsibilities & activities:

  • Ensure how we do things within the movement within Mary’s Meals remains a key focus and seek to drive the positive behaviours and embodiment of our values across the organisation
  • Active member of the in country Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
  • Work with the Head of HR Partnering at Mary’s Meals International, within a matrix structure Lead the HR team and function in Mary’s Meals Liberia
  • Develop the annual HR operational plan for Mary’s Meals in line with the Mary’s Meals Global People strategy identifying HR priorities translating organisational requirements into effective HR practices delivering people solutions
  • Review, develop and implement effective HR policies and procedures to reflect the vision, mission, values and strategic aims of the organisation which all employees are fully aware of
  • Take a proactive approach to HR compliance, legislation and risk management, ensuring risks and issues are identified, addressed and reported and, where appropriate, escalated
  • To maintain a clear understanding and provide advice on the employment legal framework which impacts on MML
  • Build management capability for managing employee relations issues

Develop and implement workforce plans in line with the needs of Mary’s Meals and in line with MMI strategic objectives

  • Work in partnership with the senior leadership team to develop a robust succession plan for MML
  • Facilitate the leadership consensus meetings with SLT twice a year
  • Lead in identifying good practice to improve employee engagement and to support a learning organisation ethos.
  • Support line managers in team development and team building
  • Support the senior leadership team in the review and implementation of the organisation’s strategy
  • Advise and support the Country Director on HR performance
  • Act as a key source of support to the Country Director regarding all HR matters
  • Provide expert advice, guidance, toolkits and coaching to managers on HR matters, supporting managers in dealing with recruitment, performance, attendance, and employee relations issues
  • Lead the management of organisational development and change including restructures, leadership and management development, team development and capacity building
  • Lead, coach and support the senior leadership team in developing, management & leadership skills and styles across the team in Liberia.
  • Provide key metrics to the organisation to enable leaders to make informed decisions that help the organisation deliver on its strategy
  • Ensure all internal and external reporting requirements are met

Additional information:

  • As part of your role, you may be required to travel to countries where Mary’s Meals operates.

Essential skills & experience required for this role:

  • Able to lead/manage people, resources, risk and/or project teams effectively to achieve complex or high priority objectives, and develop others personally and professionally
  • Experience of developing and managing change projects and programmes Experience of negotiating and influencing at a strategic level
  • Strong track record in HR generalist and change management roles
  • A proven HR Manager with extensive experience working at this level Well-developed individual and team leadership, management and coaching skills Good standard of education up to degree level or relevant experience
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and information to a range of audiences and stakeholders
  • Ability to build effective working relationship and influence at all levels to allow you to work collaboratively across the organisation to achieve strategic objectives
  • Proven ability to systematically analyse information, able to apply judgement, creativity and flexibility to bring clear innovations
