SOS Children’s Villages International is a global organisation established in 1949 that works to meet the needs
and protect the interests and rights of orphaned and vulnerable children. SOS Children’s Villages International
works through member associations in 136 countries and territories worldwide.
SOS Children’s Villages Liberia has been active in the field of children’s rights and committed to children’s need
and concerns in Liberia since 1981. We focus our work on children without parental care and children at risk of
losing parental care and their communities. The organisation has a wide range of programmes in Monrovia and
Juah Town, which include children’s villages, a youth facility, kindergartens and schools, a medical center and
family strengthening programmes
We are looking for a Human Resources & Organizational Development (HROD) Manager for SOS Children’s
Villages Liberia.
Position summary
The HROD Manager oversees, communicates and implements HR plans and policies. He/she ensures delivery
of HR operations to support the development of the National Association, and manages & administers recruitment,
orientation, compensation & benefits, performance management, staff development and other HR activities.
The HROD Manager works closely with all projects heads within SOS CV Liberia under the direct supervision of
the National Director to build an effective national HR function.
The HROD Manager works to support the National Director protect the name and the Brand of the organisation.
Mission of the position
 Build an effective HR function at the national level, ultimately ensuring that all co-workers are properly
recruited, oriented, trained and performance managed, and that fair and consistent employment conditions are
established.
 Support the implementation of HR policies, strategies and plans within Liberia, ensuring both national and
regional priorities and strategic directions are properly supported.
Qualifications/Competencies required:
 Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Social Sciences.
 Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in the field of Human Resources. Management experience and
experience in a Development organisation is an added advantage.
 Sound knowledge of recruitment, selection and separation procedures as well as the Labour laws of Liberia.
 Good analytical skills.
 Capacity building/facilitation, coaching skills and experience is desirable.
 Excellent command of the English language and highly developed communication skills both written and
spoken.
 Positive and professional approach: highly organised, deadlines conscious, able to work independently, using
initiative, keeping commitments and leading a team.
 Good knowledge of children’s rights.
 Financial skills and experience in handling a payroll software. (Knowledge of SAGE is most desirable).
 Very developed computer skills especially MS Office and HR software.
