GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: Mercy Corps is looking for an IT Assistant to provide ICT and administrative support services at field level.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Compliance with corporate information management and technology standards, guidelines and procedures for the Field Office technology environment management.
  • Provision of inputs to preparation of results-oriented work plans.
  • Assistance in the installation of software and related upgrades.
  • Assistance in upgrading patch and anti-virus programs on a timely basis.
  • Monitoring of file server, usage and performance on a frequent and regular basis.
  • Support to users in backing up and restoring their files, as well as in virus detection, removal and prevention.
  • Assistance in trouble-shooting and monitoring of network problems.
  • Response to user needs and questions regarding network access.
  • Field ICT Material Asset management
  • Maintenance of the inventory and stock of IT supplies and spare parts in cooperation with the Procurement Unit.
  • Preparation of statistical charts, tables and reports as required.
  • Provision of timely ICT support at internal & external events.
  • Conduct IT induction at field level.
  • Manage, assign and keep records of mobile communication equipment at field levels
  • Document ICT issues and report them accordingly

STRATEGY & VISION

  • Ensure compliance with donor and Mercy Corps regulations related to financial transactions and programming.

INFLUENCE & REPRESENTATION

  • Identify, build and manage collaborative partnerships with consortium partner, Program contractors, donors, local governments and other stakeholders of the LEARN Program.
  • Communicate effectively to ensure overall program targets and donor obligations are met.

SECURITY

  • Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies as determined by country leadership.
  • Proactively ensure that team members operate in a secure environment and are aware of policies.

ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING

Accountability

Reports Directly To: Operations Manager Works Directly With: All team members

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology with relevant certifications in hardware and software management and application considered a bonus
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Good understanding or interest in the provision of IT support services that takes into relevance the management of cross-cultural issues within high security environment
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English preferred.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members.
  • Good negotiation, representation skills and the ability to work comfortably with an ethnically diverse staff.

S/he will be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and will be capable of multitasking. LIVING /ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: This position will be based in Monrovia with estimated 30% travel, primarily to program locations in Gbarnga, Nimba, Buchanan and Rivercess counties.
