Liberia Civil Society Activity
Internship Program
Project Background:
The USAID/Liberia Civil Society activity aims to strengthen Liberian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to more effectively engage their constituents (citizens), contribute to decision-making processes, and oversee government actions. The purpose of this activity is to: strengthen Liberians’ ability to advocate for policy reforms, policy implementation, and service delivery through multi-stakeholder coalitions that build feedback loops among government, CSOs, and citizens.
Internship Program:
CSA is instituting an internship program to give the opportunity for job-seekers early in their careers to build their capacity and gain professional experience. The purpose of this program is to support fair access to employment opportunities for both men and women, to in turn create a workforce that is an accurate reflection of the demographics of the qualified available workforce in the relevant job market. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.
Position Description:
The Intern will support activities related to one of the following areas:
Responsibilities:
Policy/Technical
The Intern will support the Senior Policy Advisor and the Technical Team to achieve the following project objectives:
- Objective 1: Strengthen linkages between CSOs with shared priorities to increase their impact
- Objective 2 Enhance civil society’s ability to serve as a conduit for information between constituents and officials
Specific Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Policy Advisor to implement administrative and technical work.
- Plan, organize and participate in partnership development, learning, governance, and coordination activities such as workshops, meetings, consultations, etc.
- Support CSA implementation strategy such as planning events, concepts, scopes of work, work plans, etc.
- Organize the printing and distribution of all training and learning materials.
- Ensure set up of the Capacity Development Team regular weekly meeting.
- Filing and organization of project documents in electronic and hard formats.
- Liaise with other CSA technical, operations and finance teams to
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Grants
- Support the Grants team to administer the grants portfolio of Liberia CSA.
- Maintain grantees files and other grant documents.
- Support both the pre-award planning process and post-award reporting process, as needed.
- Assist to maintain good communications with grantees and other departments.
- Provide support to other members of the CSA Team as needed.
- Assist the Grants team to organize pre-submission orientation for potential grant applicants.
- Assist in the provision of financial support to in-kind grantees by facilitating payment for program activities such as accommodation, transportation allowance, refreshment for meetings, etc.
- Assist in writing minutes for CSA Grants team and general staff meetings.
- Ensure all transport and logistical set up for the Grant team activities.
- Ensure set up of the Grant team regular weekly meeting.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Reports to: Senior Policy Advisor & Grants Director
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a recent college/university graduate (within the last three years) with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 at graduation. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Demonstrated experience serving the community through volunteer work or involvement in extracurricular activities.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Basic computer skills (able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
